The firmware 3.0.0.4.374_134 solves my problem. I copied about 270GB from samba share successfully, meanwhile some torrents were downloading in the background and a movie was streaming via DLNA. I tried without torrent and DLNA stream as well.

This firmware seems to be stable. It solved my samba large file copy freeze problem. By the way, you mentioned it contains new driver. New driver for what? What does it mean?

It can freeze during copying large files from samba share of the attached hdd.

I use 2T WD external HDD with ext4. Using with PC it works fine. I realized if I limit samba download speed to 45MB/s, the problem does not occur. If I let it copy at full speed (50-55MB/s) it freezes soon or later.

It's not at its final place, because I'm struggling with it. It's on the desk now, and it is 75 °C during samba copy/torrent. I put a large fan (30cm:)) behind it and it reached 52 °C in 20 minutes. I supposed that this high temperature cause the freezes during samba large file copy, but not...

Samba Hi Merlin, If I copy many large files from samba with stock fw, sometimes ac56u freezes. Does your custom firmware contain bug fixes/updates for more stable working of samba. Thanks

+1 I've just bought this router. Unfortunately I find it unstable in certain situations. I tried Asuswrt-Merlin as well, but I went back to the original stock firmware. Asus support could not help me, they suggested hard reset. :)
