Solved Guest Network Pro (IoT network)

Just like @RMerlin said, default settings. I did bifurcate the 2.4GHz from 5GHz as I think that was giving false fair/excellent signal. Also, you can set AP Isolated but Google Home didn't like that (literally had message "no AP Isolated") so I did not.

Thanks for replying and thanks for your excellent firmware. Are there specific settings that I should configure for better signal?

Solved Guest Network Pro (IoT network)

This is what chatGPT said but my goal in posting on this forum was to get expert advice from the forum as I know AI isn't always correct. I'm not sure I can configure professional settings on VLAN. I'll have to look at some of this stuff later when family isn't on internet. I have Merlin...

Solved Guest Network Pro (IoT network)

Ok thanks. I guess I'm wondering if there's something fundamentally different between main network and VLANs on ASUS routers. Especially regarding signal strength.

The question is directed more to someone knowledgeable about the main network function versus VLAN function and how signals may be different or processed.

The "excellent/fair" connection is on the TV screen of the roku.

Not sure what "readable screen shots of what you are seeing" means. Previously "seeing" excellent connection, now with IoT "seeing" fair connection. For example Roku 4K Streaming Stick is connected to standard network node with "excellent" connection but when connected to node on IoT network...

Merlin v3006.102.5. Main router GT-AX6000 with another GT-AX6000 in MoCA wired backhaul (2.5GbE) AiMesh mode I set up Guest Network Pro for IoT Network. Devices that were connected @ 5GHz on "standard" network have "excellent" signal but when connected to IoT network (I guess VLAN?) they only...

Man you guys made it complicated. Of course I was hoping for "set it to..." I think I'll try @Ripshod's idea of starting at "balanced" and going from there...

Cheap but good router for a large house

Yes that's their custom version. You can flash the latest "open" version too which allows additional functions. Also I think they're Chinese so BB.

Cheap but good router for a large house

Saw those after I bought my GT-AX6000. Can flash OpenWRT on them. They also have Flint 3 GL-BE9300 Wi-Fi 7 but I've read that the cpu is weaker than the Flint 2 for some reason(?).

I have 2 GT-AX6000s and they are awesome. Plenty fast and good range.
