    Mirroring a NAS

Hello All, We are a small company (9 employees) BUT the demands on the availability of our network resources is of the utmost importance, so a lot of network resources are duplicated (servers, routers, internet-connection etc...) the only bottleneck we currently have is that we store our files...

    Backbone - fiber or UTP

ROFL!!!!! I was aware that F/O meant Fiber optics, i am a bit unsure about the "...has no practical limit for your application" part, do you mean "has no limitations" or the "practical benefits are limited"? Cheers, b.

Two Factor Authentication on a small network Yubikey?

Hi RMerlin, Thank you for your answer, afaik Yubikey uses OAuth.. And a phone based solution is not viable, as i dont hand company smartphones to my employees.....

Two Factor Authentication on a small network Yubikey?

Hi All, We have a small network (windows, domain based, two DC's, approx ten users) and as security is a issue in our company (we are active in mental health services, so most information we handle is part of doctor patient confidentiality), passwords are growing longer and more complex. This...

    Backbone - fiber or UTP

Hi Degrub! Thanks for your reply! Cable-length will be somewhere around 15 metres, let's double that to 30 metres so attenuation shouldn't be a big issue with using UTP. What do you mean with (i am not a native speaker): Thanks for the power panel tip! Cheers, b.

    Backbone - fiber or UTP

Hello All, Our small company is expanding, maybe i should start visiting mediumnetbuilders.com more often ;) We will be expanding in to the building next-door and of course our network also has to be expanded into the new building. I am thinking about having one (or two) backbone cables...

    bypass office blocking, please help

I guess I speak for most of us when I ask OP:

    bypass office blocking, please help

Don't get me wrong, I dó think OP has issues in the field of basic employee- and adult behavior. If he was working @ my company, he would be fired on the spot. He makes a conscious choice to swindle his employer by studying and playing games during work hours. I just do not think that blocking...

Backup from Buffalo Terrastation to Qnap431x

Installing MS Synctoy on a client? (Will take a while, client has to be switched on all the time, not the nicest solution, i know...) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15155

Backup from Buffalo Terrastation to Qnap431x

Did you try to use RSync?

    bypass office blocking, please help

On the other hand, the post of @senderj proves, at least, one point. If you start treating your employees as children (keyword filtering, URL blocking), they will stop behaving as professionals. Better to take measures to stop attacks from from the outside, monitor all traffic and trust on the...

    bypass office blocking, please help

Seems you are not quite happy at your job. Maybe it's better to spend time finding a different line of work than to spend time to bypass the security measures taken by your employer.

Help selcting NAS for Home Use

Is Arconis True Image just as 'hassle-free' as the WHS / SRV201x essentials client backup solution? Does it store a full-image on a daily basis, or does it only store the changes made that day? Come to think of it, when @Jason stores all his files on the NAS, there isn't much need for a daily...

Help selcting NAS for Home Use

Hi Jason, To answer a few of your questions: AFAIK, the automagic backup option you have in WHS or Server 201x essentials, is not an option on NAS from a third party. But maybe you can use a (paid) backup / image solution for this. Maybe it's just me, but i do not trust the remote access...
