    Brightspeed Fiber - Asus Router

Thanks! CenturyLink makes sense but my working IPTV setting is "None." There are manual and CenturyLink options, but "None" is what's in use. If and when I have trouble setting up a new router, I will certainly give the CenturyLink option a try -- after patiently waiting for the WAN light to...

    DDNS hanging my RT-AC86U router.

I see my router is capable of PPPoE. It is one of several choices under WAN Connection Type. The others being: Automatic IP, Static IP, PPTP, L2TP. I have Automatic IP selected. I'm pretty sure it's always been that way. Maybe "WAN IP release" is still required but takes a few minutes to happen...

    DDNS hanging my RT-AC86U router.

I'll check into it but I don't remember having to do that in the past. I'll call the ISP tomorrow and ask.

    DDNS hanging my RT-AC86U router.

Thanks. I plan to switch to an AX86U. I tried to replace it earlier but could not get it to connect to my Brightspeed fiber ONT so I returned it to Amazon. The WAN light on the router was red. After some fiddling I got it to turn green but still could not get to the Internet. Since that time...

    DDNS hanging my RT-AC86U router.

Well, the problem seems to have corrected itself! My Network Map page suddenly shows me the "DDNS: GO" link and when I went there it said: (Not exactly the same as yours, but it seems to do the job.) I am afraid to touch it! I can also scroll around to my heart's content! I really don't know...

    DDNS hanging my RT-AC86U router.

When I log into my RT-AC86U I see the following on the Router's opening page (Network Map): Internet status: Connected WAN IP: 65.131.231.160 DDNS: Wait a while for verifying... I did not consciously enable/activate DDNS so I don't know where this came from. (I admit I might have "fat...

configuring and upgrading to a new ASUS router

Sorry for the late response. I will eventually get another one but right now I have other things to deal with! My ISP is Brightspeed fiber, as taken over from CenturyLink. CenturyLink was copper. They put in fiber which was working fine, as was Brightspeed after they took over. Not surprising...

configuring and upgrading to a new ASUS router

Well I got the AX86U Pro but failed to configure it so returned it to Amazon. First attempt, the WAN light was red, not green. re-Plugged in my existing router (AC86U) and it all worked. Second attempt, got a green light. Scanned the QR code and followed instructions but the router crashed...

configuring and upgrading to a new ASUS router

Well, I see a thread that pretty much answers my question (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/migrating-from-rt-ac86u-to-rt-be86u-need-advice.95134/). It is specifically about the BE86U but the answer seems to apply to my situation as well.

configuring and upgrading to a new ASUS router

I have an ASUS RT-AC86U and, since it is now on Merlin's "No longer supported" list (https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/), I plan to upgrade to a newer ASUS RT-AX86U. (Is there a reason to pick the RT-BE86U instead?) I dread going through a reconfiguration process! Is there a way to...

    Looking to update RT-AC86U

I may go that route as I don't think the WIFI7 stuff will do me any good anyway, Plus, save a few bucks.

    Looking to update RT-AC86U

I have an RT-AC86U which I see is no longer in active support by Merlin so I am looking to upgrade. Seems like the following are potential and reasonable upgrades: RT-BE86U (the most likely) RT-BE88U (why, why not?) RT-BE92U (why, why not?) Any recommendations?
