If you're on Linux, run ha256sum -c sha256sum.sha256 on the files in the zip, and you will see OK. The value in sha256sum.sha256 in the zip is the same as the one on the website.
Thanks Colin. That worked.
As for whether a separate router is better than using a guest network. I've seen different opinions. Security guru Steve Gibson says absolutely yes use a 2nd router -- if you have an old router around (which I do). His point is that we don't really know what's...
I have an AX86U-Pro and attached an AC68U to one of the LAN ports to use as an isolated net for IOT's. It works well. But I cannot figure out how to sign in to the AC68U from my desktop connected to the AX86U-Pro. The only way I can access the AC86 is by connecting directly to it with an...
Dirty upgrade working well on AC86U, but keep on getting many errors in the log (see below). Are these messages a problem? What do they mean?

I use Mullvad on my AC86U and it performs flawlessly. I set it up on both VPN1 and VPN2 to two different Mullvad servers so if the connection to VPN1 goes down, the router shifts to VPN2. Works like a charm. Also since Mullvad is paid month to month you can try it out and if you don't like it...
Updated to alpha3 with no problems. I have 2 VPN clients set up (using Mullvad VPN) and the speed from the router speed test is now almost 2 times faster with download than before! It's almost as fast as using the VPN on my desktop.
I have experimented with 2 VPN services: PIA and Mullvad. Both can be run from apps or the router. With Merlin you can select which devices use the VPN. This is useful because some devices won't work with a VPN and for some it's not needed.
In my case, I route our smartphones and most IOT...
I've been using PIA with Merlin since 386.1 with no problems. Now on 386.3_beta2. Works like a charm.
Full instructions and opvn files to upload to the router are on the PIA support site.
The problem is that the IP address range on the guest network is 192.168.102.xxx which is a separate range just for the guest network clients. I have seen this problem on prior versions and I think it's an issue with the Asus firmware which is then inherited by Merlin.
I was able to get around...
