The Netgear forums' filled with complaints of bricked devices and having to hack in via the serial port and telnet to the OS to downgrade versions, etc. Although I see similar here too.
What probably adds to our complexity is the density of people here in NYC. There are easily 2000 apartments...
Update, after several attempts, I finally managed to get it to work. What seemed to make a difference was changing a backhaul option on the main router to a shared mode - i forget the exact setting. Then it found the other router even though they were wired together.
Man, I just don't get why...
So I'm going through setting the network up from scratch and having a hard time getting the remote unit to talk to the main router. I even have them cabled together with a short ethernet cable. I have the main network back up but I can't add the remote node.
The Find AiMesh Devices just does...
That's interesting - didn't know about those options.
However it doesn't seem to have worked. When I go outside, where only the extender's signal should reach, I can see but not connect to the signal there. I can only connect to the backhaul, which works well.
Does it seem like the two...
I have an ipad that won't connect to the remote node's WIFI using the regular wifiname - it's as if it doesn't like the PW. However, it does connect to netname_dwb (which has the same PW). I've upgraded and rebooted everything.
I have two XT9's. One downstairs and one upstairs. The...
I have a small rasberry pi device that has a webserver for configuring various things. I have this connected to my Guest network.
Is it possible to be able to access the webserver from devices on my internal home network? So far I'm unable to, and I'd rather not connect the device to my...
Thx - Ideally I just want one device with a couple of ethernet ports, although one would be fine.
If I have to get a router I might as well get another ASUS-XT9 for $239 and get the most compatibility.
Just seems overkill for a 1100 sq foot apartment. The problem is the layout: Two floors...
Thx but those are full fledged routers. Isn't there a simpler option such as one of these?

What's a cheap way to provide a few ethernet ports from my wifi? I have two ax7800 xt9's at either end of a duplex apartment. I have a small music studio in a closet that's kind of in between the two routers. Most of my gear picks up wifi just fine. But there's a couple of rasberry Pi...
Ah - some success!
I was able to connect to my Guest network after messing with a few things: I disabled 802.11ax/Wifi6, wifi agile multiband, and set Controlc hannel = auto. I had smart connect off at first but put it back on and still seem OK.
With the device on the guest network I was able...
I've been trying to connect to a guest network that's 2.4 only and is set to use WPA2_Personal.
I've tried other Asus settings but am not sure what else to test.
I've moved the device close to each base station, tried different dongles... The dongles work because the devices have an access...
