    Review Suggestion: Sophos UTM

Thanks for the comments. V9.2 is in beta, coming to a close. It's working really well. The only thing I wish they would put in is support for connection to a remote openvpn server / gateway. Unfortunately, it's not on the radar, so I'm thinking about putting another guest on the hyper-v server...

    Review Suggestion: Sophos UTM

Haven't been here for a while, but enjoyed reading the how-to articles using pfsense. I'm still using Sophos utm and it does a lot of the same things. I've been very happy with the performance and reliability. It's very solid. You should take a look at it.

    OpenVPN Gateway / Proxy Server

I'm using Sophos utm as my router / gateway. It's running as a vm on a hyper-v 2012 server. I also have it set up as the endpoint of a 6in4 tunnel from HE. I was going to use it as an openvpn gateway / proxy for http and bit torrent to an external openvpn server. Unfortunately, it does not...

    Review Suggestion: Sophos UTM

Sophos UTM was previously called Astaro ASG before Sophos bought Astaro. I'm pretty happy with it. I'm currently running v9, will probably give the v9.1 beta a try. I have it set up with an ipv6 tunnel from hurricane. Trying to get it connected with an openvpn server, but this is one problem...

    Review Suggestion: Sophos UTM

Since you've reviewed some alternative router firmware, why not review a software router, better yet, one that is free for home use? I was finding my Netgear WNDR3700v2 wireless router somewhat limited on features, so I decided to give something different a try. I switched it into AP mode and...

    Netgear WNDR3800 Router

I hope you will review one of them soon so we can see if their new approach makes any difference.

Netgear WNDR3700v1 still a good buy?

I have a WNDR3700v1. With the most recent firmware it works pretty well, but I do not expect Netgear to update the firmware again. It's a dead product and I do not recommend that you get one. If you want a WNDR3700, I would recommend the v2 over the V1 due to the extra flash which would be...

NETGEAR WNDR4000 N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Reviewed

How did you get this unit? It doesn't appear to have been released.

Netgear WNDR3700 as a AP - can't check for new firmware

Mine was doing the same thing. The feature used to work, then it stopped working around the time the .98 firmware became available. Since I updated to the .98 firmware it seems to be checking again. Go figure.

    Wndr37av?

We obviously do not agree on some of these issues. I have just as much right to my opinion as you do and notwithstanding censorship by Netgear's moderators on their forum, just as much right to post my opinion as you do. Since it doesn't appear likely one of us will convince the other to change...

ADSL modem/router with wireless and IPv6 in UK?

I agree. Get a modem that's compatible with the DSLAM and deal with the router separately.

    Wndr37av?

Well, I guess everyone's experience is unique and everyone's opinion is based on their unique experience. As for angry people "ranting and raving" on the Netgear forum, I don't see why you should take that personally or why you should feel compelled to defend Netgear. If anything, you should...

    Wndr37av?

Hey, fancy meeting you here. I don't think we are that far apart. I would rather router manufacturers stick with routers and not add "me-too" features, particularly if they don't intend to make them work properly. I think it's pathetic that over a year after the WNDR3700 was introduced...

    Feature Suggestion IPV6

Since the last /8 blocks got allocated, I think the level of interest is rising. It would be great if you did an article on setting up a tunnelling service such as Tunnel Broker (or whatever) using your WNDR3700 and Windows 7. (Okay, I admit my interest is selfish.)

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

To paraphrase Forrest Gump, buying a Netgear product is like buying a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. Go over the netgear forum and read about the problems other people are experiencing with the firmware and how enamored they are with Netgear's support. :D (I'm one of...
