Wireless N Mixed Mode and repeater mode

I recently got back to the U.S. and am waiting for my Uverse account setup (it took 2 weeks to get someone to come out and install everything) so I haven't actually been able to check and see if everything is working (Internet connectivity, file sharing, etc.) I do know that the routers are...

Wireless N Mixed Mode and repeater mode

similar question... Not trying to steal your thread, just think my question is similar... Does it make sense to use a wireless bridge on a G only router when your main router is set to N only? I know it works fine if the two routers are hard-wired together, but not sure if it can be done...

    802.11n dual band bridge

If you don't care about gig-e ports for wired devices and only care about the wireless, the cheapest route you can go is probably getting a linksys wrt160n v 1.0/1.1 router (version counts so don't get 2.0 or 3.0 just yet), flash it with dd-wrt v24 pre sp2 firmware and configure it as a bridge...

    Slow connection DIR-655

Thiggins: Do you have any more articles about this I can read up on. This is the first i've head of that. However, if that is the case, it would explain a lot of performance issues for a lot of people. I always knew that different encryption methods could impact througput based on the...

    Using The "Oddball" Channels?

European channels I live in Germany. Most of my neighbors are on either channels 1 or 6. I'm using DD-WRT v24 sp2's built in site survey application to scan around me. Since no one else seems to be on channel 11, I figured i'd take advantage, but I'm beginning to think no one is using that...

    Is this dir-655 / dap-1522 setup feasible

Thanks for your feedback - much appreciated. Other thought... doesn't the DIR-655 support either bridge or AP mode? I've read that it used to, but a recent firmware update nixed that option, making it necessary to buy a dap if you want repeater or bridge capability? Would be nice to use...

    Problems with dir-655?

Might not be a hardware issue at all. 1) Are either of your routers using mixed mode? Perhaps the 825 is N only and the 655 is in mixed. Mixed mode will be worse than strait-up N. 2) If using the 825 in 5.0 ghz you'll get better throughput at close range than you will with the 655...

    DIR-655 & DAP-1522 Please provide your input

Rereading your post, it seems like you just want to add wireless for an old pc and a DVR? Those are probably both wireless G only devices right? So if your main router/AP (the dir-655) is already running in mixed mode (A,B,G,N) then you could just use wireless G bridges. If so, definitely...

    DIR-655 & DAP-1522 Please provide your input

There aren't that many options really for wireless N bridges/AP's. You can look into buying another router and loading it with dd-wrt third party firmware to make it into an access point or bridge. However, there is no third party firmware compatability for the DIR-655. The DIR-615 has one...

    Is this dir-655 / dap-1522 setup feasible

I live in an apartment that is strait and long. It is quite a ways from one end to the other (total size is approximately 1400 square feet). Unfortunately my one-and-only ISP connection point is located at the farthest point possible on one-side of the apartment. Because of this, my wifi...
