    RT-AX58U V2 aimesh

For general benefit, here is how the problem was resolved: 1. on the ax58U: There was no V2 firmware on the asus website. So, manually re-uploaded latest (v1 presumably) 3.0.0.4.388_24762 (this is the same version that was already on it), reset the router first with the reset 'switch' then...

    RT-AX58U V2 aimesh

I've never enabled any of that trend stuff. It looks like i'm SOL until asus update their firmware. I guess i can try setting the other routers as relay/AP mode

    RT-AX58U V2 aimesh

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Some further reading shows https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng/releases/tag/3004.388.8_2-gnuton1 works with V2 Do you think the aimesh issue I described might be fixed in the above firmware?

    RT-AX58U V2 aimesh

Hi, I can't get aimesh to work on RT-AX58U V2 with two ac68u clients. It 'sees' the clients but is unable to pair up with it. It gets slowly to 40% progress then speeds up then says it's unable to pair up, with the following error: Unable to add your AiMesh node RT-AC68U...

    ASUS RT-AX58 - Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.24762

This version was installed a few days after it came out. The upgrade seemed to go well on my mesh system ( rt-ax58 'server' with 2x rt-ac68u 'clients' and one dsl-ac68u in aimesh-only mode ). All firmware is stock firmware. I needed to move the clients around so removed them from the 'server'...

RT-AC68U QoS and questions about latest Merlin

not sure what you mean by "routing" here do you mean the asus can issue a /29 real ipv4 subnet as well as ipv6 /48 and also nat? I thought it couldn't - which is why there's (presently) an edgerouter lite 3 [1] (with nat and firewalling turned off) there to make the pppoe connection. The...

RT-AC68U QoS and questions about latest Merlin

The extra router replaces [1] the ISP router. I didn't explain clearly, sorry. That's what I mean by "for the pppoe" The connection is fibre. It goes like this, with regard to the asus router: ONT/fibre => ethernet ==> pppoe router ===> 1GB switch [external LAN] ===> asus ac68u ===> internal...

RT-AC68U QoS and questions about latest Merlin

for the pppoe connection, I'm getting one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07F7HDRKX/?tag=smallncom-21 Looks like I need to replace the asus for LAN then when the connection gets upgraded edit: i'd really like one of these though, lol...

RT-AC68U QoS and questions about latest Merlin

What speed is the asus good up to? I'll limit the bandwidth it can use if need be on either the asus itself or the external LAN it connects to via its WAN interface.

OK, think I've sorted it now, thanks for your help :D edit: sorting by device looks like it'll work

RT-AC68U QoS and questions about latest Merlin

I guess Merlin still allows the mesh thing? as it's closed source. BTW I guess this website doesn't like long filenames? I had to rename the above attachment because it stuck at 0%.

RT-AC68U QoS and questions about latest Merlin

ahhh I didn't realise. There seems no way at first glance of giving voip the very highest priority/guaranteed bandwidth, but Ive not searched very deeply on here or elsewhere yet. It needs like 100% priority and say 2% of the bandwidth to be guaranteed. I thought it'd be a specific packet type...
