    Ruckus R510 experience

I have configured smart roam, and it is okish. It is set to I think 3 As any higher and I was seeing clients get kicked off at inappropriate times. Overlapping db is indeed in that range. See my site survey here. The star is where the overlap values on the left are from. The circle is also my...

    Ruckus R510 experience

I have a pair of R510s and they seem okish - 5ghz is abysmal and roaming is meh. Any experience with these APs? How much screwing around with radio settings and site surveys were necessary? I was really hoping these would be more automatic set and forget and they are feeling much more like my...

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

Very cool. Thanks for the tip!

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

I finally figured this out and it did not require nuking back to the stone age. The problem was that the router did not have good time. Here's the dependency tree of fuggery if anyone else runs into this. WAN DNS: set to a Pihole which I access across a VPN (10.8.0.1) LAN DNS: Set to nothing so...

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

That didn't change anything until I did a hard reboot and the settings changed to use /etc/resolv.conf directly. This feels like I need to nuke this thing back to the stone age as dosborne mentioned above. Thanks all.

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

Aha! Now we're on to something. admin@RT-AC68U-F698:/tmp/home/root# cat /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 127.0.0.1 admin@RT-AC68U-F698:/tmp/home/root# cat /tmp/resolv.dnsmasq server=10.8.0.1 10.8.0.1 is my Pihole on the other side of the VPN that isn't working. However, I have the WAN DNS set to...

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

You lost me. The default behavior when you do not enter a LAN DNS server is for the router to issue its own internal IP as the DNS server for the LAN and it then resolves DNS via dnsmasq using upstream servers. So in my case, dnsmasq on the router is just sort of borked and doesn't resolve...

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

I'll give it a shot. That seems odd because as soon as I down grade to 384.10_2, everything works perfectly again. Thanks!

OpenVPN and DNS flakey in 384.11.*

I am not even sure where to start to report an issue. So let me try to describe some behaviors. Firstly, 384.10_2 is solid for me and I have no issues. AC68U dnsmasq simply can't do a DNS lookup. If I leave the LAN DNS setting blank and only enter a WAN DNS entry so that the router acts as a...

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

That's correct. FWIW, these are the available options and for it to reply to VPN traffic, you have to open it up to all interfaces.

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

Negative. YazFi creates a route like the following in the Client VPN config: Source: 192.168.180.0/24 Destination: 0.0.0.0 iface: VPN I delete that route and create a new one like: Source: 192.168.180.0/24 Destination: 10.8.0.1 < Pihole IP on the other side of the tunnel iface: VPN I just...

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

I figured the work around... let Yazfi do its thing. Then, delete the custom route Yazi created and create my own custom route that only routes to the Pihole IP. The only inconvenience is that after every reboot or run of Yazfi I have to do this. Not a huge deal as a reboot is not frequent - but...

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

I have my Pihole hosted in GCP and I access it via a VPN on my router. Is there a way to split VPN with Yazfi so that my clients on the guest network can reach my Pihole over the VPN but all other traffic goes out over my local ISP rather than the VPN?
