thanks for the suggestion. I triple checked and confirmed I downloaded correct firmware (for GT-AXE16000). I tried to re-install my current firmware (3004.388.7_rog) with the file I downloaded a few months earlier, but still got same error message.

no USB drives attached to router. Yes I'm doing upgrade via Ethernet.

reboot the router then tried updating to 388.8_2 again, still got same error. After this message I reboot the router firmware stays as old version (388.7) Anyone got GT-AXE16000 updated to 388.8_2 ROG successfully?

Hi thanks for including ROG version in 3004.388.8_2 release! My router is GT-AXE16000 and currently is running on 388.7 ROG. I tried to apply 388.8_2 ROG version, but it keeps failing. Any suggestions?
