    Colin, no not yet! not at that particular site. There 8 ports. 8 are in use but the site needs only 4! So there are 4 switch ports taken up going to LAN ports not in use. Did not have time to plug them out. Needless to say not labelled anywhere on switch.

    its a Ubiquiti PoE ToughSwitch...I'm not so sure about the tough part though :)

    Ok thanks sfx2000 :) Many people believe working in IT is all about code, apps and drinking endless cups of java...the never get to see this side...chaotic comms cabinets and smoke... Anyway what is a popped switch port? Could it be the LAN point itself?

    I inadvertently plugged my Tone Problem Tester into a PoE-enabled socket. All LED lights went out on it. Then smell of smoke...gr8! Ok I can live with a $60 dollar piece of kit being broken but here is the annoying part. Setup: The switch downstairs is a Ubiquiti Tough PoE Switch connected...
