R7000 New Firmware review

On my newish Apple MBP, after upgrading the R7000 firmware to 1.0.4.30, I was no longer able to use the 5G network, just the 2.4 side. The 5G had been working nominally until the upgrade. Based on a comment I had seen (somewhere, I don't recall now), I downgraded to R7000 1.0.4.28 and now...
