    Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21099 (2022/10/03 )

Somewhat unrelated, a couple of months or so back, I decided to get off the Asus firmware merry-go-round and front my network with a pfsense firewall/router and consign my XT8's to mesh duties only. Thereby eliminating - or at least reducing - the need to keep updating the XT8's to keep up to...

    Netgear mesh only?

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I will stay clear of Netgear for the reasons mentioned. Regards ethernet cabling, yes that would be marvellous wouldn't it. If only life was that simple. But people really need to understand that retro-fitting it in some domestic properties is...

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

BTW, I have since managed to bump the HT-A9 onto channel 149, which is well away from my 80Mhz bandwidth 5GHz backhaul and also front haul. But the front right speaker is still prone to dropouts and breakup. It seems to be VERY dependent upon how close it is to my XT8. If I move it a foot...

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Won't work. Sky Q boxes will not connect to third party WiFi networks - they need ethernet, or their own WiFi.

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

I see, thanks. Wires dangling from the ceiling doesn't sound very appealing to be honest. Unless we're back to chiselling plaster and re-decorating again, i.e. square one.

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Thanks for your input. To clarify though, I don't use WiFi for the Sky Q or Sky Q mini boxes, i.e. I don't use their own WiFi. My Sky Q main box and most of the Sky Q minis are connected via ethernet, to local XT8 mesh nodes. So there's no WiFi coming out of the Sky kit - I have it switched...

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Well, it's a problem at the moment until I can fiddle about with it some more to get it working reliably. To be honest I am not sure whether the speakers use WiFi specifically (I think they do) but they certainly communicate at 5 GHz radio frequency and can (automatically) set themselves to...

    Netgear mesh only?

Hi I've been using Asus for years, so don't know much about how to configure Netgear these days, but I am considering moving over to a new Orbi RBKE963B system to take advantage of 6GHz wireless backhaul (for various reasons I need not go into). Currently, I am using pfSense as my...

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Thanks. The problem is my ISP's modem (Virgin Media) is in the office. My Sky Q main box is in the lounge on the other side of the large-ish house. The Sky Q box needs a decent network connection so it can stream content to various Sky Q mini boxes all around the house. I cannot move the Sky Q...

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Not really sure what that means

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Thanks - yes, the ET8 is the obvious option. Regards the wired backhaul, unfortunately it really is not a option at all. We've recently spent $$$ on having the lounge decorated and it is immaculate without a wire in sight. There's no way on this God's earth the Mrs would sanction carving up the...

    Mesh with 6 GHz backhaul?

Hi folks I have a bit of a problem in that my Asus XT8 mesh system (wireless backhaul) is not playing nicely with my new Sony HT-A9 home theater system which uses 5Ghz WiFi for communication between the speakers. I have tried forcing the XT8s to different channels but this doesn't seem to help...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49873 (2022/08/04)

How does the firmware know whether or not to enable the UNII-4 channels? Is the US hardware physically different from non-US hardware? If not, surely we could force the US firmware update (notwithstanding the fact the power output levels might be in contravention of local laws)?

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49873 (2022/08/04)

Agreed mate. The guy returning the £3,000 TVs 8x (yes 8) was returning them for the most ridiculous reasons like a bit of dirt on the screen. And on each return probably costing the retailer £500, maybe £1,000.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49873 (2022/08/04)

I'm sure you are. Not so sure Amazon are so chuffed about it. At least they can afford it but that's not really the point.
