"Fun" with SAMBA on XT8 Mesh LAN (It's not working!)

SMB1 whilst a perfectly reasonable solution on a home LAN in the past, is deprecated these days on Linux, Mac, BSD & other operating systems. Leave SMB sharing turned off on your Asus router. You're wasting your time. If you must use file sharing on your router then use FTP.

Is someone Deauthing my router? Can anyone tell me what's going on here?

Moved house? -> Reset router to factory default then only configure what is absolutely needed to be changed. -> Check for DHCP conflicts of client devices on the LAN. -> Check WiFi network contention. Find the channel with the least contention & lock your router to that.

    ASUS RT-AX59U vs Asus RT-AX82U

Both review well on tech sites. The 59U has unobtrusive styling, has one less ethernet port & slightly lower claimed wifi performance. The 82U has styling only a 14yr old could love, has one extra ethernet port & slightly better claimed wifi performance. I doubt you would notice any real...

    Upgrading from AC66U to AX56U or AX58U

When I first arrived in Australia 12 months ago I needed an Asus router in a hurry & at a an affordable price. My local IT supplier had the TUF-AX3000 on sale which I grabbed. I have been running it on stock firmware for past 12 months with auto updating enabled. It hasn't been any hassle...

    RT-AX58U - Firmware 388.2_0 fails to install

Bad documentation. Before flashing my TUF-AX3000 (tri core therefore V1) I went searching the entire bloody internet, including Asus' own website, for the differences between RT-AX3000 & TUF-AX3000 (V1). All info indicated they are virtually the same apart from case design. Indeed, Merlin's...

New ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 with Wifi 6E

Merlin is right, CPU clock speed and CPU microarchitecture design are key to routing performance. Your device's primary function is ROUTING network packets.

Not quite following old chap? I'm no fan of CF but they are a major player in shunting bits around the world. So I'm guessing you're saying that an ISP using CF to accelerate access is a bad thing?

Nope, my mistake not checking on that when I signed on with Skinny... I note that Spark are now offering Netflix Standard (HD) subscription included at no extra cost in their price for the life of your contract. (We already have a Netflix Premium sub in our household). I was leaning to...

Kia-ora Frank ;) Using Skinny over a 1Gps fiber line. It cops a flogging from my family & holds up well but thinking of switching to Voyager for the static IP. Any experience to share? Cheers Chris
