RT-AC3100 with latest firmware. Nothing but bugs!! No support at all!

no, not for the media bridge yet. will try and see if it stays stable.

    RT-AC88U

i was wondering if anyone gets this issue where the media bridge RTAC3100 just doesn't feed the signal to my PC, but this happens rarely, like every 2 weeks, i just reboot it in config page. Also, interesting to note that my main router AC3100 is an older, 2015 era revision, no issues here...

    RT-AC87U/R: Cooling solutions

it's RT-AC3100 here, but you know what this is king of ghetto. Just the router resting on fan itself and leaning on the 6tb HDD with some support from coasters.

RT-AC3100 with latest firmware. Nothing but bugs!! No support at all!

speaking of which, is there any reason my media bridge RT-AC3100 doesn't work like, once in a while and I have to enter its config page and reboot it? Also worth mentioning is that this AC3100 is a newer revision and my router AC3100 is 2015-era revision. It doesn't happen too often, seems like...

Help to choose new router ac87u vs ac88u

according to Amazon and Bestbuy in USA, $240ish or so for AC3100. used market ranges from $150-200 for AC3100. AC87u is cheap because of Asus's one time adventure with Quantenna, we see how well that went, and it's also an older model obviously. Would AC68P three stream fit your purpose fine...

Help to choose new router ac87u vs ac88u

Ac87u has finicky 5 ghz radio from its Quantenna design (long story) Ac88u doesn't suffer any issues, and if you want to save $30-40, get the rt-ac3100, which is essentially a 4 LAN port version of the 8 LAN port AC88u, otherwise the hardware is the same. Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk

RT AC66U firmware update from 380_3264 to Merlin (version?)

Yes, treat merlin firmware like you would do for official Asus. go with latest stable branch, here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/bkfq2a6aebq68/Asuswrt-Merlin#lt9d2blv8a9uh 380.66 should do.

Upcoming ASUS ROG Gaming Router: GT-AC5300

Ah i see. Asus spends more money on SW R&D than competitors, this paid-for research is getting forked for free by other people and running it on non-Asus hardware. Yea, can't blame them for close sourcing now.

Upcoming ASUS ROG Gaming Router: GT-AC5300

Well, I wonder if sales will be affected if Asus makes it harder to do your build on their routers. Then again, I'm not entirely sure if a huge chunk of sales has anything to do with Merlin firmware. But I do not know of other brands that have the same "stock-alternative" firmware that you do...

Upcoming ASUS ROG Gaming Router: GT-AC5300

    1. Can be done with ur standard Asus UI with the Merlin logo! I mean, it may be RoG gaming, but your hypothetical firmware UI can just be stock Asus UI blue/grey like you use on other supported routers. Everything else.... yea, I don't blame you. Now this will be a problem. What if they use...

Upcoming ASUS ROG Gaming Router: GT-AC5300

I must have read wrong somewhere. does it have anything to do with this specific Broadcom chipset that is the reason you're not supporting it for now? Just curious, not that i need a GC AC5300. I don't have enough devices in apartment to warrant such a router, even the AC3100 may be overkill...

Upcoming ASUS ROG Gaming Router: GT-AC5300

I have to reckon because the GT-AC5300 is Qualcomm-based, and Merlin's firmware is attuned for Broadcom chipsets in general. Merlin, is this correct?

Upcoming ASUS ROG Gaming Router: GT-AC5300

Is there going to be basically a AC 3100 but with this better SOC? The VPN acceleration would be nice. Otherwise, my twin AC3100s serves my needs fine, one router and media bridge. Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk

    RT-AC88U

I've been reading SNB for a while, and I'll like to say hello to all here. The AC87R used to be my main router and I have to admit I didn't really have any issues with it, 5ghz and 2.4 ghz. Now it serves as a media bridge to my desktop while the new RT-AC3100 takes over as main router, the...
