Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I knew I forgot something in my notes! Winging it here off memory so please correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe the Sync to Node was not available on guest network 2 or 3, just 1 for both 2g and 5g bands.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Thought I would give an update to some of my testing. I have spent countless hours testing and have taken copious notes. Maybe Asus and a few on the forum will find this useful. Every setup is different, so your mileage may vary. I have 2 86u routers currently setup in AI Mesh 2.0, using the...

I think you missed my post that was moved to another thread. At the time of that post, it was correct. ASUS RT-AC86U - NEW - Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81792 (14.04.2020)

    ASUS RT-AC86U - NEW - Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81792 (14.04.2020)

The advantage of smart connect for me is that when I move outside the house farther from 5g it auto connects to the 2g and back to 5g when I move back in. This is good for guests and family who are not techies. The different SSID names can be confusing. They don't have to actually connect...

    ASUS RT-AC86U - NEW - Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81792 (14.04.2020)

Really solid for me. Devices switch networks smoothly with no hiccups. I do however recommend lowering the power on any node devices. I did at one point set my second node to AP mode but I discovered that IOT devices like smart switches can not be isolated from my main network while connected to...

    ASUS RT-AC86U - NEW - Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81792 (14.04.2020)

At the bottom of the page where you turn Smart Connect ON, Wireless/General. Both 2.4g and 5g are now separated. I haven't actually tried to set the control channels, but in previous firmware the only option was auto.

    ASUS RT-AC86U - NEW - Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384_81792 (14.04.2020)

The new 81792 firmware allows channel selection with Smart Connect enabled.

Yes, auto channel. Unfortunately, Asus firmware does not allow channel selection when Smart Connect is enabled.

Running solid with no device drops for 7 days with latest Asus Firmware. I have AI protection, Smart Connect, and Qos running. Also, not experiencing ANY channel ping pong. Overall Wifi experience is smoking!

Under Administration/System you will need to enable SSH. Then use Putty(one of the easier ssh programs) to connect to your router. At the prompt type the following: nvram set log_level=5 nvram commit reboot If you are using Merlin, then there will be drop down boxes under the System Log tab to...

First off, I am not normally a forum poster. I however felt obliged to create an account to say THANK YOU to the many on this forum who have helped me with issues over the past year. Merlin, Ozark, L&LD, Val, and many more whom I apologize to for not mentioning. You are not being paid enough...
