    4x4 2,4 Ghz increase coverage?

I compared an Asus RT-AX5400 against an Asus XD6. They have same the CPU and WiFi chipset, but the former has 4 external antennas and the latter has 6 internal antennas. They were pretty much identical in terms of speed.

    4x4 2,4 Ghz increase coverage?

I would agree with degrub. For my 2x2 ac devices I tested one 2x2 WiFi 7 router, the Deco BE11000, Hardware Version 2.6 (from Costco), and compared it to my current 4x4 WiFi 6 router, the Asus XD6. The Asus was much faster (30%-50%), despite having a 1.5Ghz 32bit tri-core CPU vs 2.2Ghz 64bit...

    4x4 2,4 Ghz increase coverage?

Yes, it is true that in the XT-9, the 2x2 can only use the lower 5Ghz band (36-64) and the 4x4 can only use the mid-upper 5Ghz band (100-165). However, here in the US, where I did the tests, the lower non-DFS channels (36-48), which the XT9 2x2 were using during test, are limited to the same...

    4x4 2,4 Ghz increase coverage?

So I have some data to support 25% to 50% improvement of 4x4 vs 2x2, but for 5Ghz. I tested an Asus XT9 router for Wi-Fi download speed using 2x2 clients. It has both a 2x2 band (5Ghz-1, for fronthaul) and a 4x4 band (5Ghz-2, for backhaul). I found the further the distance, the higher the...

1gig fiber internet fast ethernet but slow Wi-Fi possible solution?

Hi, I found something interesting during my recent upgrade from 500Mb/s to 1Gb/s fiber internet, and wonder if anyone has similar experience: fast ethernet but Wi-Fi speed. After the upgrade, I bought 2 new Wi-Fi 6/6E routers from Asus and TP-Link and returned them, since I was only getting <...

Help with Zen ET12 system - 2.4 GHz constantly disconnecting

It's good that you found the solution. I wonder if reducing the wireless Tx Power for 2.4 Ghz will accomplish the same thing, but let you stay in AI Mesh mode?

Can Asus XT9 5Ghz-2 Use Lower Channels (36-64)?

Thanks for the reply. You are right that I don't have a 4x4 client, though I do have a 3x3 client, my 2015 Macbook Pro. The rest are all 2x2 clients. Still, what I found interesting is all of my 2x2 clients get much higher speeds when connected to the 4x4 5Ghz-2 band than the 2x2 5Ghz-1 band...

Can Asus XT9 5Ghz-2 Use Lower Channels (36-64)?

Hi, Is there any way to make Asus XT9 5Ghz-2 use lower WiFi channels (36-64)? I have an ethernet backhaul so I wanted to used the 4x4 5Ghz band for fronthaul instead of backhaul. Also, I've found that the 5Ghz-2 band gets about 20% to 40% more speed than the 5Ghz-1 at > 15 feet, for both AX...

RT-AC68U in Media Bridge Mode losing connection to main router

I can confirm the part about Fresh Tomato firmware. Struggled with old/new versions of Asus/Merlin firmware for AC66U-B1 for almost a year. Switched to Fresh Tomato 9 months ago and have had no problems since (like dropped connections or slow web browsing) in Media Bridge mode.

RT-AC68U in Media Bridge Mode losing connection to main router

According to FreshTomato-ARM Changelog KRACK was fixed in version 2018.1 - 2018.04.14 a while back. Since the Asus AC66U and AC68 use the ARM command set the current version should be ok for these routers. The problem may still be there for the MIPS command set though, according to this...

RT-AC68U in Media Bridge Mode losing connection to main router

I have been using FW 380.7743 for a year to get stable Media Bridge connections, but found that FreshTomato 2019.3 is even better, on my AC66U_B1 (which 2019.3 supports). With FW 380.7743, and scheduled rebooting daily, I still encountered two problems: 1. losing connection about once a week...

Work Around/FIX for Wireless Bridge losing connection every 24hrs

Ok, tried Merlin 384.8_2. Unfortunately, still got the same problem - wireless disconnects within an hour, in Media Bridge mode, using fixed IP address. Fortunately, I have found that Asus firmware 380.7743 is stable enough to last at least a day without losing internet connection. So I have...

Work Around/FIX for Wireless Bridge losing connection every 24hrs

Anyone found a stable firmware version for AC66U_B1? I could not find firmware 3.0.0.4.378.4850 for AC66U_B1 so I used the AC68U version, but it did not work, in rescue mode. I've tried the latest 3 versions of 384 firmware, 382.19333 and 380.7743.
