UTM device for home network security

thiggins: For HTTPS inspection the appliance is the requester of the url not the computer. The end system sends the request to the appliance, the appliance then acts as the requester. The request is sent back to the appliance and in turn it inspects and passes it on. The device will need a...

UTM device for home network security

UMT’s or Unified Threat Managers are a step above the home router. They do offer more security features and better visibility in the way of traffic granularity With that said you will need to invest way more time setting the UMT up as well as managing and update rule sets. If your looking for...

Parental control Fine tune access time?

Thank you Martinr, That's what I figured. I was wondering if I could initially set the parental control through the web interface them edit the start and stop time through a command line after the fact.

Parental control Fine tune access time?

ASUS RT68U with Merlin 380 Parental control: The issue I have is it only allows for 1 hour blocks on the hour. I would like to fine tune the start and stop times. That leads me to the following question. Once I initially set up parental controls to allow a specific MAC address internet...

Most SSL VPNs are Wildly Insecure

From what I understand SSL3 is still secured but Microsoft, DOD and Semantic want to move to TLS before SSL3 is considered hacked and unsecured. For folks that take payment cards the recommended minimum is TLS1.2 and the date for PCI compliance is drawing close. As for certificates, SHA128 is...

    Merlin 380.58 @ RT-AC68U VPN issues..

See if this guide will help. The cert also works with IPad as long as you are using the OVPN client. But just like Yorgi said, Don't over think the process. http://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-i-set-up-ovpn-on-my-asus-rt68r-for-android.17644/

How I set up OVPN on my ASUS RT68R for Android.

My statement is incorrect with regards to creating your own certs. You do need to export the cert but replace all –Begin to end—stuff.

How I set up OVPN on my ASUS RT68R for Android.

Jcarrra Are you creating certs outside of the router and pasting them in then exporting form the router? If so, you cannot. If you have the router export the certs then you must use what the router populates for its server. If you create the certs then you must do so for both the router as...

How I set up OVPN on my ASUS RT68R for Android.

ASUS RT-AC68R and Open VPN @ 2048 cipher. I hope this works for you. I want to thank the people that wrote this guide. http://www.howtogeek.com/60774/conne...pn-and-tomato/ This how-to is for the folks that may not know how to set up a OVPN to use as a proxy. This is how I set up OVPN that...

    AC 68u as proxy server

From what I understand PPTP and L2TP are less secure than OVPN. The 68U will generate its own complete .ovpn client with a 1024 cipher Im new to this VPN stuff but was able to set up the keys required for 2048 cipher. I have a rough guide a few pages in OVPN @ 2048. You can skip the cert...

    ASUS RT-AC68R and OVPN @ 2048 cipher.

If you let the router do all the work, including generating the necessary keys it will export a complete *.ovpn cert that can be imported. If you manually configure the keys only a partial cert is exported containing only the CA portion. Leaving only a partial ovpn thus missing client info...

2 drives NAS - fundamentally wrong concept?

My thoughts on the term ’NAS’ or Network attached STORAGE does not include any type of redundancy or data security, it’s all about space. Whether it’s a single drive, two drive or 50 drives, when I see or use the term NAS its all bout space. The two drive concept is not wrong when used...

Is the Intel 7260 line bad or is it just horrible drivers?

@ overdrive31 You may have already thought or tried this but If your devices have factory BT radio it may be conflicting with the ones on the Intel card. Disabling the onboard device and letting the Intel take over may work.

Is the Intel 7260 line bad or is it just horrible drivers?

Disable BT in the bios and see. On a side note. Someone correct me if I’m wrong or out of line but if I translate that statement from Intel it would read….Poor driver and device support…
