Realtek 2.5Gb: Have to unplug network cable after losing Internet or updating router firmware

I'm using the relevant driver direct from Realtek. Thanks for the control panel suggestion, I'll give it a try next time it happens. Fortunately, it's only an occasional annoyance. ETA 3/9/23: Disabling/enabling the adapter in "Advanced network settings" works!

Realtek 2.5Gb: Have to unplug network cable after losing Internet or updating router firmware

I'm running Windows 11 and using the Realtek 2.5 Gb adapter built into my Asus B550 motherboard, and while it works well enough, it doesn't recover after the Internet goes down or I've updated the router firmware, which is an Asus XT8. I always have to unplug the network cable, and then things...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49873 (2022/08/04)

HTTPS is enabled. I'm using the same URL I've always used, which continues to work in Edge, BTW: https://router.asus.com:8443/ Prior to version 104, I was able to add an exception to enable access, but Firefox 104 is not allowing it. ETA: Discussion and solutions here...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.49873 (2022/08/04)

Well this is a find how do you do. This must be new in Firefox 104, which just came out. Thank god for the app I guess. "router.asus.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.48706 (2022/05/03)

Can't say I ever saw that, and I get radar events every time it rains. However, with this latest firmware, my PC could not reconnect after a radar event until I rebooted the router, and that's new. I have a single XT8 and use 5.2 for AX only. I've turned off 160 MHz for the first time, and if it...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.48706 (2022/05/03)

I have a single XT8 and updated to this BIOS a couple days ago. I have 5-2 configured for 160 MHz and use it for my file server, which is on 24/7. Tonight I found my other devices couldn't connect to the file server, and that was because it had no wireless connection. Moreover, it couldn't even...

Unknown MACIDs spamming my XT8 logs with Auth/Deauth_ind entries, no Assoc

That's what I figured happened. I'd still love to read an explanation of the log entries, the significance of "Auth" and "Deauth_ind" vs "Assoc" and "Disassoc", and how I could get a "disassoc" without a preceding "assoc".

Unknown MACIDs spamming my XT8 logs with Auth/Deauth_ind entries, no Assoc

I turned that off on my phone a while back, and when it was active, it didn’t use a macid assigned to a company, and it connected successfully to my router. This macid belongs to “Tuya Smart” like I said, and I’d like to be certain it isn’t getting onto my network, which I think is true since...

Unknown MACIDs spamming my XT8 logs with Auth/Deauth_ind entries, no Assoc

The MACIDs belong to "Tuya Smart", so I guess it's some neighbor's IoT thing? Entries are as follows and repeated many times: Jan 30 06:11:44 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(527): eth4: Auth xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, status: Successful (0), rssi:0 Jan 30 06:11:44 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(491)...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/14)

No, but I did power-cycle the router after applying the firmware the second time, and that cleared up the weird delays I was observing in Windows programs like Explorer and Outlook. No issues in two days, except I have two Lenovo google smart clocks that continue to litter the log with entries...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/14)

No. I've since reinstalled 46061 and oberved more weird delays on my wired PC, such as Outlook taking 20 seconds to open after rebooting the PC, and my Autohotkey shutdown prompt taking even longer than that to appear. These are things that have never happened before. I'm loath to doing a...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.46061 (2022/01/14)

I run a single XT8, and 46061 was a disaster for me. My Remote Desktop connection dropped twice in the first hour, when it had been stable for weeks between PC reboots on 45898. I also have a couple of mapped network drives, and simply opening Windows Explorer to "This PC" took 10+ seconds the...

    XT8 firmware 45879

They recently did this with my motherboard firmware as well, posting it, removing it, then restoring it a few days later. Not exactly confidence-inspiring, is it.

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

I and others have noted the same thing: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-xt8-3-0-0-4-386-43181-2021-06-17.73161/post-707784

    Release Asus XT8 - 3.0.0.4.386.43181 - 2021/06/17

Judged solely as a router, what would one compare it to? I like the fact it doesn't look like a typical router with antennae sticking out all over and that its lights can be completely turned off. I'm kind of stuck on this idea because I've determined I don't really need the mesh functionality...
