    ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 (2025/10/31)

Anyone else getting a large amount of "kernel: PKT:" spam in their logs? Each one is followed by 16 lines of 16 bytes per line hex dump. There's nothing preceding or following to give any clue as to why. This started on 11/7 for me, almost a week after I updated to the 38979 firmware. There was...

    ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 (2025/10/31)

I didn't realize there were different versions of this relatively new router. I bought mine a couple months ago, and it's "H/W ver. 4.0." I haven't had any problems with the current firmware or any of the problems people were reporting early on with reboots and whatnot. It's been a great router.

    ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 (2025/10/31)

I did not. Other things that may or may not be relevant: I run it as a single router, no mesh; all my 2.4 GHz devices are on the IoT subnet, which is the only network that mixes bands, 2.4 and 5 GHz; I don't use AIProtection; all my settings are pretty much default.

    ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 (2025/10/31)

I did a manual update this morning, and my 2.4 GHz IoT subnet and its 14 clients have been fine.

    ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 (2025/10/31)

One problem persisting from prior version is that under Network Map -> View List -> Show By -> Network, only Wired items show up for me after the first viewing. Everything shows up under the default "All", and the per-network lists are filled when I click on the computer icon above "View List"...

What is best configuration of two PCs sitting next to each other?

My PCIe cards (made by Asus and TP-Link) are for desktop systems, and both systems are running Windows 11, so no worries about compatibility. Thanks for the info, I'll give it a shot! BTW, for anyone stumbling upon this, I know the RT-BE92U has taken a lot of criticism since its release, and...

What is best configuration of two PCs sitting next to each other?

I've got two PCs side by side, one equipped with an AX210 PCIe card, the other with an AX200. The former is using the 6 GHz band and achieves around 1.7 Gbps and the latter a little less on 5 GHz. This is with an Asus RT-BE92U router, which is in another room separated by a wall. I think this is...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24753 (2025/08/04)

I've never had a separate network for IoT. Everything I've been talking about was with them on my only network.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24753 (2025/08/04)

Three days now, I'm calling it - fixed! I can't say for sure that the factory reset is what did it, as I only tested this firmware after immediately factory resetting, but the prior firmware that was supposed to address IoT stability didn't help, and this one wasn't advertised to improve IoT, so...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24753 (2025/08/04)

As I mentioned in the post I linked, "I've found several threads on this but never a solution, and I've tried many things to fix it over the couple of years I've had these smart devices." Nothing helped. In the four years I've had the router, I believe I applied every firmware update, but this...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24753 (2025/08/04)

Well, I bit the bullet yesterday and factory reset after applying the new firmware. I've been keeping my DHCP assignments in Excel, and it took me maybe 15 mintues to enter them into the router and also give them friendly names in Network Map -> View List. Tedious, but certainly doable. And the...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24753 (2025/08/04)

I've never ever done that after updating firmware. I have like 20+ DHCP assignments I make, and I assume they would be lost. Is it permissible to load a saved configuration file to restore them, or would that defeat the purpose of the factory reset?

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24709 (2025/03/18)

After 12 hours back to the XT8 on the 20 MHz setting, I saw the red light on my thermostat for the first time in months, and checking the logs, it did the auth/deauth twice in 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the experiment seems to be a bust for me. Back to my R6700v3. ISTR reading earlier Asus...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24709 (2025/03/18)

OK, that's interesting to me, and it's the first mention I've seen in a few years. To keep my log from being spammed by deauth/auth events from a couple of Lenovo smart clocks, and to keep my Amazon smart thermostat from losing connection a few times per day, which really bugged me, I turned off...

Release ASUS ZenWIFI XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24621

Yep, the 5 GHz has exceeded expectations. In particular, I use the 5 Ghz-2 in AX-only mode for my file server in another room, and it provides a solid 1 Gbps connection. I typically get 110 MBps file transfers per Windows Explorer, and it's also been great for Kodi, no latency when skipping...
