    AC68U kills USB keys

    I have this happen, it was the heat from the constant read and write that kills the usb key. I bought out a sandisk usb key with a metal casing and I've added huge heat sink to the top and bottom and so far it have been 2 years, before I it would just kill a usb key in a few weeks...

    How Hot is your USB key?

    I went through 2 usb flash drive before I realized that my flash drives were dying due to heat. I now have the sandisk drive with metal casing and attached one big heat sink on each side of the metal casing. Been find for two years, before was giving issues after a few month.

    Something has happened to my AC5300 router...

    Have you turned off airtime fairness for 2.4ghz? Before turning this off my printer and my smart switches had connection issues. Been fine for over 3-4 years now. Also turn off aiprotect, it makes my router hang and reboot randomly.

    I’m new to command lines, but how can I make the log save to the USB drive instead of memory on the router? I only have 1 USB drive connected.

    What kind of USB drive is this, memory stick, spinning HDD, or ssd? Was it also a brand name or just something cheap? I’m using a memory stick and it gets too hot to touch. I now have one heat sink sitting on top and one heat sink on the bottom and at time you can feel the heat from the heat...

    I don’t have QOS on but mine have spike. I’ve also noticed on daily report sometimes it missing a few days.

    Did you disable aiprotection? When mine was on it crashes quite often, been off for at least over a year now. My next is to try parental scheduling and see I it works properly.

    Did a dirty update from 384.19 to 386.1 on my RT-AC5300. Everything seems to be fine, cpu temp went down by 2 degree C, it is sitting at 68C now. But did noticed my traffic log not working correctly. I’ve have cleared the database and will see if that fix the problem.

    How long before AC3200 is "unsafe"?

    I have the original RT-AC66U that have been unsupported many years ago. But even at it’s end of life it still had a few new updates every so often. There was another firmware update last month.

    [Solved] High RAM usage RT-AX88U, question.

    Exact same issue with my Rt-Ac5300, the fix is to turn off Ai protect.
