Downloaded and installed, no issues and my whole setup seems faster. Every time I buy a new ASUS product for last 5-6 years - it takes them 3-4 FW updates to iron things out. And since we can’t use Merlin, we wait on them to optimize. So far really happy with this FW update.

Okay - thanks everyone - I have a Iphone X which has the ASUS app, so I'm going to start with OpenVPN connect app and once connected - see if ASUS app will work. Plus do some reading/research. Thanks !

Thanks guys - that sounds like a good idea - I'm a techie but not a networking guru. I use a VPN for work that is setup by IT and I see the "Open VPN" for the router. A couple questions: 1) Where's the best setup instructions ? 2) Do you use a seperate program to connect ? 3) My work laptop...

Need some help.... Has anybody successfully used the ASUS app remotely to make changes in their router ? I have latest Merlin FW and in the app, it shows that remote is turned on etc. I would like to control the devices from a remote location because I travel alot and need to shut the kids...

Bought AC5300 - could only run ASUS firmware - Loaded 380.61 and working great ! Thanks and smart connect is a joke on AC5300 so running 3 channels - 2.4, 5G1, 5G2 and works great. Range for 5 GHz is twice the range of my ASUS 68U. Thanks Merlin.

Thanks to all for their insight - Merlin that helps us understand it and thanks for all your time on writing that reply. I usually check in here a couple times a week so I'll keep monitoring it. It sucks I spend $400 on router and can't get your firmware, hopefully that will change soon and ASUS...
