The other works as a wireless bridge for other devices without wireless lan as well as a repeater for the wireless itself. (I use the experimental firmware from merlin, works like a charm over 5GHZ).     Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.270.25 is out

    I just wanted to say thank you for the Experimental firmware which includes repeater mode support. I am using a second RT-N66U in repeater mode as a wireless bridge over 5ghz connected to my main RT-N66U. It works beautifully, I am reaching about 20 Mb/s (~160 MBit/s) over 5Ghz. Hats off to you...
