AImesh feature compatibility, settings, and recommended nodes for RT-AC86U or RT-AX86U

The AC86U couldn't penetrate the far end of the house nor the newer travel trailer but so far (just the one night) the AX86U is doing much better. Don't know why and don't care so long as it continues to perform this well.

AImesh feature compatibility, settings, and recommended nodes for RT-AC86U or RT-AX86U

This is my current network. Green dot is the AC86U primary and yellow dots are AC68U nodes. The node towards pic bottom has a wired backhaul to the primary. Everyone surprised me and decided to share the cost of an AX86U primary and whatever else might be necessary to regain reliability. I'm...

AImesh feature compatibility, settings, and recommended nodes for RT-AC86U or RT-AX86U

I just learned that the web UI does not hide features that aren't supported by the entire network. If I stick to my current network of a RT-AC86U master and RT-AC68U nodes, which features don't extend to the RT-AC68U and what should I set them to? If I need to replace a node, which models make...

    TM-AC1900 as AImesh node?

The TM- AC1900 is nearly a decade old and AImesh is almost 5 years old. For quite a while converting them was no more controversial than loading alternative firmware onto anything. All I really want to know is whether I'm wasting my time building and testing such a setup. My gut says that if...

    TM-AC1900 as AImesh node?

I haven't bricked anything, nor am I asking for help with Asus firmware. My TM-AC1900s were converted years ago and I'm not interested in putting Merlin onto any of them. I am interested in using them as aimesh nodes when I flash Merlin onto a supported router that will become the aimesh master.

    TM-AC1900 as AImesh node?

Of course. I'm not interested in flashing Merlin onto unsupported hardware. I'm trying to figure out if a Merlin aimesh master will work properly with a aimesh node that is a RT-AC68U converted from a TM-AC1900.

    TM-AC1900 as AImesh node?

Thanks, but that doesn't address my question at all.

    TM-AC1900 as AImesh node?

Apologies if this has already been answered (I did Google). Can I use a converted TM-AC1900 as an AImesh node with a Merlin master router (either a true AC68, AC86U, or AX86U) without technical problems? (I know the deal with the TM, but I need to exhaust my options with what I have before I...

Nexus 7 FHD "Authentication Problem" after replacing router

The Nexus 7 FHD 5.1.1 just updated itself to 6.0.0 and resolved the connection issue to the RT-AC56R. So both issues I had with my upgrade to Merlin and the RT-AC56R have been resolved, and neither were the fault of Merlin.

Nexus 7 FHD "Authentication Problem" after replacing router

Seems my troubleshooting skills aren't what they used to be, because before this I tried using the E3000 as my router and a WES610n media bridge and I would get a regular, momentary bandwidth drop every minute or two. I concluded that the WES610n was faulty. Just for the heck of it I tried...

Nexus 7 FHD "Authentication Problem" after replacing router

I may try logcat at some point. It is at the limits of my android knowledge. I tried disabling beamforming and it made no difference, probably because I'm using the 2.4 band. Is there any potential downside to leaving a guest network setup for just the Nexus? I also tried using the E3000 as a...

Nexus 7 FHD "Authentication Problem" after replacing router

My goal: Wifi fast and interference resistant enough for smooth operation of Xbox 360 Windows Media Center Extender in HD without crawling under the house to run ethernet. Latest idea: Setup my existing Linksys E3000 running TomatoRAF as a 5GHz ethernet bridge to the Xbox, Blu-Ray player, etc...
