    Parental Controls and Firewall setup

Thanks for sharing, I do the time scheduling blocking before and may need to resort to blocking steam, origin, youtube ports or URLs as well. One of my kids is spoofing his mac address, which bypasses the time scheduling so the only way I can cut him off is to physically unplug the ethernet...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61 is now available

I just flashed my RT68U with 61, came over from Johns latest fork. Did a factory reset but I have that issue with no clients in the network map, thus I can't use parental controls to lock out the kids at night, use vpn and dns routing, etc. I also tried reformating the jffs on reboot. I know...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Thanks, I upgraded from 17E5 to this but it broke my VPN client on the router (AC68U). Downgrading back to 17E5 fixed the issue, VPN works again. Darrin.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Spoke too soon, as soon as I power up the printer, after it goes to sleep it wakes up randomly like before. I uninstalled the drivers from my computer to see it it's waking it up, I used the printer utility to map an specific IP address, no change in behavior. As soon as the beta 358.59 goes...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

John, thanks for trying this out for yourself. I unplugged the power to my printer since it was driving me bonkers and plugged it back in the next day. I haven't seen the printer wake up since. So perhaps it was initiated by the printer somehow with all of this firmware flashing and rebooting...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

AC68U here, updated to this version and it's been very stable for me all day. The only thing is my printer wakes up about every 21 mins or so. I know this is a known issue in another Merlin thread. Looking that the system log this is what is occuring at that moment. Note "SEC00159991E1F8" is...

    RT-AC68U

Just an update, I flashed John's latest fork. 374.43 available (V17E5) and things have been stable so far. No UI lockouts, no 2.4 drops or lockups. Signal strength seems to be ok. I did first flash with Asus stock firmware 376.3626 as recommended. Did a factory restore, nvram clear, loaded...

    merlin issue dns leak

Octopus, thank you very much for the tip, had no idea my ISP was still visible via DNS, including my geolocation, scary. I applied this setting and re-checked and now I have privacy. I'm using Johns latest fork which has an extra checkbox beside it " Only VPN clients use VPN DNS**" I left...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

No I didn't have any attached drives, I downgraded to 378.56_2 as it was supposed to be stable with the AC68U but I am having the same issues and I have the same messages in my log as mordorr posted above. The only firmware I haven't tried yet is actual Asus firmware. ;) Since there was no...

    RT-AC68U

Figured I'd keep this thread going since my interest is finding the most stable release for the AC68U. I tried Merlins latest 380.58 but the 2.4 wirless eventually stops working, and accessing the web gui stops working after a couple of hours. Rebooting the router gives me access again. I...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

I didn't know you could login by router name, I've only used the IP address all these years. I'll screenshot the next time it happens. To be fair, Tomato get's wonky with web usage turned on, if you track too much eventually the router becomes unresponsive and your have to power cycle it.

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

Yes I recently changed my tmobile ac1900 to the ac68u and have had issues with the latest 380.58 build. Merlin suggests 378.56_2 in another thread for those with issues with the AC68U. Did you try that one yet? I am looking to revert to one of these past releases because my family is...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

Thanks Kal, she lives up in Barrie so I want to set and forget. I can remote into any PC but flashing and clearing NVRAM is a different matter. I come from using Tomato on the N16 which is great, but I like the GUI that Merlin has built. I tried an older version of Johns fork from 2014 on my...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.58 is now available

Thanks Merlin, I updated from the Alpha version on my AC68U . So far no 2.4 wireless dropouts that I experienced with the alpha. Seems to have fixed not being able to access the admin gui on the browser. Sometimes it would kick you out when you clicked on the web history tab and you have to...
