    AX86U Pro vs AX88U vs AXE7800

The RT-AX88U Pro is the router that both we and my in-laws are using. They purchased it on my recommendation after their old router recently died. Both households enjoy stellar performance with zero issues. Theirs is a single router network topology while we also have 2 RT-AX88U mesh nodes. If...

Why is there no support for the RT-AX92U?

I tried upgrading to the RT-AC86U setting up 1 as my mesh router and using 2 as mesh nodes. They worked great for about a week. Then the 2 GHz band started to suffer performance issues. By that I mean unusable. When clients would connect (and that wasn't often) speeds would be so slow as to be...

    RT-AC86U Default IP Address

My LAN has used 192.168.1.1 as its IP for eons. So I have to remember to set the default IP any time I reset my router. It's not really a pain in the butt. I'm just getting grumpy... as I become... less youthful. :)

    RT-AC86U Default IP Address

Mine is 192.168.50.1 and I set it to 192.168.1.1. It's a pain in the butt.

    ASUS RT-AC3100 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.385.20457

I am sticking with what works for now. Merlin 384.16.0 on the AiMesh router and Asus 384.81116 on the AiMesh nodes.

    Possible upgrade questions

Thanks for the detailed response. That was pretty much my thinking. My network is running great. When my son & his wife were here there were times when 4 TV's were streaming, 2 in 4k and 2 in 1080p, with my son banging away on his Xbox. No hiccups ever. So I I'll hold off for now.

    Possible upgrade questions

OK guys. Haven't been around for a while. Wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to WiFi 6. Currently running 4 AC3100's, 1 mesh router & 3 nodes. All is fine. Have 2 Roku 4k TV's & a Roku 1080p stick along with 2 smartphones & 2 laptops. Just me & the missus now so gaming is not a concern...

[SOLVED] Help! Cannot connect AC68U to my AC86U as aimesh node

Apparently the issue is firmware related. I downgraded each wireless node from the current firmware version (81116) to the previous version (45717) and all was well. The wireless router remained on 81116 but the setup kept coming back with the "another user is attempting to setup..." error...

[SOLVED] Help! Cannot connect AC68U to my AC86U as aimesh node

I've had to reset my AC3100 AiMesh router. When I attempt to reconnect my two AC3100 AiMesh nodes I keep getting an error message that someone else is trying to setup AiMesh also. Now the kid next door has a tri-band Asus router, don't know which model, but that has never been an issue in the...

    Asus Aimesh any good?

I have 3 AC3100's using AiMesh no roaming assistant, guest network, no roam blocking or parental control. We have 2 Roku TV's (one is on Ethernet backhaul) and a Roku 1080p stick. When my son was here he had a Firestick and a Xbox as well. There were 4 smartphones too. The mesh handled...

    [Experimental] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.13 test - AiMesh/DNSSEC through OpenSSL

I don't have time to go thru the thread this weekend (or much else as the wife will be hunting me down any sec). So can the nodes now also use Eric's firmware? Thanks for bearing with me. A waste is a terrible thing to mind. ;)

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

Did you start from scratch and manually enter everything? That is the only safe way to do it. Otherwise you may have gotten a bad apple which is possible with any manufacturer. My experience is that my AiMesh kicks butt using open box equipment from NewEgg. However you're locked and loaded with...

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

Those are broad statements. What information are you referencing? I admit that I don't rabidly follow the AC86U but I can't recall any patterns of posts here or at Singapore Hardware Zone indicating issues with the 2.4 GHz band. Maylyn over at SHZ is great at finding issues with hardware and so...

    Major Issues w/RT-AC86U

I don't have the AC86U but instead have 3 AC3100's & a 4rth as a spare. One is a mesh router and 2 are mesh nodes. If my units are any indication of Asus' quality than the AC86U should have few, if any, issues. I have two 4k Roku TV's, one 1080p Roku stick, a FireStick, an Xbox, 5 laptops, 4...

Finally, AIMesh update as smooth as Google Mesh

We have to part ways there. I'll manually update my mesh everytime. I'm too worried about the potential security risk. I don't want anyone in control of my router but for me. The mesh pushes the new firmware to the nodes during the update so a manual update is easy peasy. I always like to hold...
