    Openvpn server intermittently down

I faced the same issue with my RT-AC88U a while back and started this post. It addressed the unresponsive VPN server and I never determined the root cause. I recently replaced the router with the RT-AX88U and was hoping the workaround would not be necessary.

    VPN Server Scheduled Restart

I appreciate the clarification. Thank you both again for sharing your solutions and teaching me something today.

    VPN Server Scheduled Restart

Thank you both for sharing those solutions. @ColinTaylor - I presume the initial code you provided executes the 'vpn-watchdog1.sh' script, and the second creates the script with the code you included. Does the condition in the IF statement just check if the service is running? The information...

    VPN Server Scheduled Restart

My VPN Server will cease to accept connections occasionally and restarting it using scMerlin resolves the issue. I might require extended remote access soon and don't want to lose connectivity. Is it possible to schedule a periodic restart of the VPN Server as a proactive measure until the root...

    Diversion Diversion Whitelist Comments

I really appreciate the guidance. The approach I took before reading post # 5 was to edit the last backup file, then importing it from the options menu. I could have restored an earlier backup, but this method also provided me the opportunity to sort the entries in a particular order. If there...

    Diversion Diversion Whitelist Comments

Awesome, thank you very much! Now let me press my luck. Is there a better way to re-enter my whitelist, with commentary, other than to delete all the entries and input manually? I'm still learning... EDIT: I just found the option to restore from a previous whitelist backup. I should have...

    Diversion Diversion Whitelist Comments

I decided to use the Diversion GUI to quickly whitelist a domain instead of going through AMTM. Of course, I failed to read the commentary indicating that comments would be stripped. After processing the newly added domain, all the existing comments were indeed stripped, and the whitelist was...

    ASUS RT-AC88U 386.5 / 386.5.2 firmware - Wi-Fi disconnect few times a day

FWIW, I also have an AC88U and experienced the WAN disconnection within 48 hours of performing a dirty upgrade from 386.3_2 to 386.5. I immediately reverted to 386.3_2, which resolved the issue. I eventually decided to dirty upgrade to 386.5_2 and surprisingly did not experience any further WAN...

Asuswrt-Merlin is now 10 years old!

This rings true for me. I sincerely hope you are properly recognized, by them, for your valuable contributions to their router business. Availability of your firmware is why I switched to, and remain in, the ASUS camp. I also want to thank this great community for providing invaluable help and...

    386.5_2 and Chromecast

Resets can be painful, but the advice is spot on. If the following are enabled then try disabling to see if it makes any difference. Airtime Fairness Multi-User MIMO Explicit Beamforming Universal Beamforming Also, if you're connecting to 5GHz then try the 2.4GHz segment to see if it makes any...

Solved My RT-AC 88u bricked after upgrading 386.5_2

FWIW, I also have the AC88U and forgot to unmount the USB but the upgrade from 386.5 to 386.5_2 went fine. I got the typical ARP Cache warnings from ESET, which disappeared after rebooting the router and all devices.

    LAN Connection to 192.168.49.1

I really did research this before posting, and came up empty, but your suggestions pointed me in the right direction. Although I can't locate that specific IP anywhere in the settings/config, others suggest it is the address the remote uses to communicate with the Firestick. Why my browser is...

    LAN Connection to 192.168.49.1

Yes, I have a Firestick with KODI and ROKU. I didn't think to check them because nothing's changed with those devices and I started seeing the ESET warnings about a month ago. Will report back. Thank you for the suggestions!
