After Upgrade to 3006.102.5: "Can't Add Zero Mac!"

I'm in the UK - it's a "Hive hub" which is the interface between a thermostat, the heating boiler (not that we need heat in August! but it still takes the data), and the supplier. What's worth noting is it's old in internet terms; the router also reports that it's a low speed interface into the LAN.

After Upgrade to 3006.102.5: "Can't Add Zero Mac!"

I think I found it: there was an iot device - wired - that seemed to be struggling with DHCP. I gave it a fixed address and that seems to have solved the problem. This isn't the first device I've had that had a problem with the Asus DHCP lease implementation.

After Upgrade to 3006.102.5: "Can't Add Zero Mac!"

I have the BQ16 system - see the same. It seems to be something relatively new, as I hadn't seen it in the log before. I did report to ASUS tech support and got the rather unhelpful answer: "This Kernel Log entry can have multiple possible causes: 1 - MAC filtering is detecting a hardware...

Dyson Fans won’t connect to Asus WiFi?

I had exactly this problem too — my Dysons couldn't see my network after the firmware update. I fixed it by — 1/unplugging the Dysons (not just turning off) rebooting the router and plugging the Dysons back in. All three of mine are connected again.

Smart connect rules, leave at defaults?

You can combine Ssid and still turn smart connect off - that’s what I do and rely on the devices themselves to choose the right signal. I found smart connect problematic with apple devices especially; they perform better if they make the choice.

XT12 as Main Router, ET12 as AIMesh Ethernet Backhaul in Office For VR, Cannot Manage 6GHz Band, It Doesn't Even Show in Wireless Advanced Settings

This is the best article I know on setting up and Asus mesh and on the joys/dangers of mixing hardware standards

XT12 as Main Router, ET12 as AIMesh Ethernet Backhaul in Office For VR, Cannot Manage 6GHz Band, It Doesn't Even Show in Wireless Advanced Settings

In a mesh, the main router rules. The xt12 has no six band therefore it is like a language it hasn’t learned.

    XT12 problem updating firmware

I had a problem with the latest firmware update - needed to do a full reset to factory settings and setting up again as new (I know that’s always advised, but I confess I don’t always do it unless or until there’s a problem). Working fine for me now. Have you tried a full reset?

    XT12 with XT8 (maybe XT9)

I too had trouble trying to use an xt8 node on a 12 network. In my case it kept on going down. I think the 8 is simply an underpowered processor, which is the reason I upgraded to a 12 in the first place. So I can’t answer the questions you asked, but I wanted to share my similar experience

Does the XT12 still has issues? XT12 vs GT-AX11000

I think at a certain point if it works don’t mess with it! But that said, I love the 12’s and have had zero problems.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi Pro XT12 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21678 (2022/11/21)

Just fyi I updated "dirty" without reset and it has been fine and fast.

    Xt12 vs 8

has anyone here moved from the xt8 to xt12? What was the motivation? Was it worth the spend? I’m very intrigued by the upgrade, but the cost seems at the moment hard to justify.

    Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21099 (2022/10/03 )

Thanks - did a second "clean" reset and all fine. shrug. New firmware seems fast and stable so far

    Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21099 (2022/10/03 )

A small annoyance: router.ASUS.com doesn’t resolve for me now. Any ideas why? I can reach with 192.168.50.1 so no big deal but a weirdness after upgrading.

Need to repalce my Orbi 850 for something more stable

I replaced my 850 three pack with an ASUS xt8 three pack and am thrilled with the stability. Key for me was turning off “smart connect “ - with that off rock solid on latest firmware. A huge improvement from my Orbi nightmare
