Asus ZenWiFi Pro (ET12, XT12) sneak peek

From Asus: I am pretty sure the terms of service for the router require you to set up a shrine around it and pray to it three times a day.

Thanks for your update. As someone who just started the RMA process today with my AX89X, I am glad to hear a second forum member has been given a refund by Asus. I've also reverted to a Netgear router which I may stick with for a while if it's stable. I think I will stay away from Wifi 6/6E...

    RT-AX89X 3.0.0.4.386.22790 observations

I'm one of the 89x owners who thinks heat is a factor in the reboots. I had been reboot-free for two weeks with the fan speed set on HIGH but it just reboot about an hour ago. I am throwing in the towel and have set up an RMA with Asus. I can't have my router disconnect in the middle of work...

kinoka2k, can you offer some tips on the best way to open the router and the fan type and size that you installed in it? I think your diagnosis is right - the included fan is adequate under light loads like surfing but has trouble handling multiple downloads and streaming simultaneously...

    RT-AX89X 3.0.0.4.386.22790 observations

I also installed newest firmware 3.0.0.4.386.22790 and noticed that the AUTO fan setting sets the fan speed to the equivalent of HIGH. I am not sure if that's been the case for a while now because I upgraded from old firmware 3.0.0.4.384.81377 where the fan speed on AUTO was lower than even the...

My AX89X reboot once yesterday - I was hoping it was a fluke but it went crazy today, five reboots in 30 minutes, one right after another. I think it would have continued to reboot for the rest of the day but I pulled the plug and restarted my computers, ethernet switch and ONT. It's been 7...

I have one AX device - an iPhone 11 Pro Max - and it also hasn't connected at 2.4 Gbps with 160 Mhz channels enabled and the Extended NSS setting disabled. The max connection rate the iPhone 11 gets is 1.2 Gbps. The phone is on iOS 13.0 - I don't know if that's a factor. With 160 Mhz channel...

Newegg will sometimes show the router with a BACKORDER button instead of AUTO NOTIFY. Backorder lets you place an order that is fulfilled once it comes back into stock. You aren't charged until the item ships. It saved me from rechecking the site over and over. For me, it took four days...

    RT-AX89X

I received the AX89x last week, replacing a Linksys EA8500. So far, I am pleased with the increased stability of the wireless connection versus the Linksys. Some of the iOS devices in the house had a frustrating habit of dropping off in the middle of a wireless backup session. I always blamed...

Dong Knows has revised his comment that Asus told him Wifi 6 routers would be updated to 6E via firmware. The previous statement has a strikethrough and an update added:

Does the Ax89X use Qualcomm radios? It's listed as having QCN5054 and QCN5024 on the techinfodepot.shoutwiki.com page. If that's accurate, do Qualcomm solutions makes firmware updates to Wifi 6E more feasible.

From Dong Know Tech article last month about Wifi 6E: https://dongknows.com/wi-fi-6-explained/#So_how_fast_is_Wi-Fi_6 Will be interesting if this actually happens. Similar claims about upgrading routers from draft to final wifi standards have been made many times in the past.

802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) when is it worth updgrading to ax routers

The tangible benefits of MU-MIMO to users is different from the topic that caught my eye, re: the scarcity of devices with MU-MIMO. Samsung is a single device maker but they're obviously a big/the biggest one and they've had MU-MIMO for multiple generations now in their flagship lineup. I...

802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) when is it worth updgrading to ax routers

Fair enough about the article I linked to discussing iPhones support for MIMO but the Galaxy spec pages specifically say the phones support MU-MIMO. https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-s8/specs/ https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-s9/specs/...
