Updated my XT8 v1 AiMesh system :-)
So back to my original query : Asus claims that the XT8 product has 4804 Mbps support on 5GHz-2 via 160MHz channels -
https://www.asus.com/nz/networking-iot-servers/whole-home-mesh-wifi-system/zenwifi-wifi-systems/asus-zenwifi-ax-xt8/techspec/
WiFi Data Rate: WiFi 6 (802.11ax) (5GHz-2) : up to...
Switched the router to stock firmware 3.0.0.4.388_24710 now and the 160MHz option disappears.
Maybe I should wait for gnuton's release of 3004.388.9_2 ...
It looks like the Asus XT8 when running as AIMesh nodes to an XT8 router, are unable to have two-way 160MHz backhaul channels running between them.
I had 3 nodes - 1st was 3m away. 2nd was 9m away, and 3rd was 14m away. Only the AIMesh router runs at 160MHz. ALl nodes transmit at 80MHz channel...
XT8 does support UNII-4. See https://dongknows.com/5-9ghz-wi-fi-6-explained-how-unii-4-can-be-exciting/
The UNII-3 Ch114 was not available when I was set for Australia region.
Tried changing to Default region, and I now see the UNII-3 channels. Will give it a go.
No NZ in the region dropdown and ASUS routers are the same for AU and NZ market.
This is a rural area and closest airport is 45kms away.
Note I am using UNII-4 channel
I have 4 Asus XT8's (v1) servicing my NZ home - the ZenWifi AIMesh router is running 3004.388.8_4-gnuton1.
Previously, using the official firmware 3.0.0.4.388_24709 and later the 3.0.0.4.388_24710 I noticed I couldn't get 160MHz for the wireless backhaul, but when I switch to Gnuton and set the...
Thanks @ColinTaylor
The good unit says AU/02 🇦🇺 while the bad unit says CX/01 🇨🇳 solooking at options to fix this like https://github.com/JasonJTucker/asus_nvram_editing
This model router works fine with me. They offer better grunt than RT-AC68U which was getting long in the tooth. And I have switched to RT-AX86U now. Have had this unit already for the past 2 years - and just trying to fix the issue. Otherwise, will just use it in the router mode until it needs...
I saw that but I am not sure what entry needs to be modified and how the CFE bootloader is reloaded. I was thinking maybe there is a process to backup the CFE from the working versions of router and restore it onto this problematic one but can’t seem to figure how to do that.
Any thoughts?
