Mesh Asus vs Unifi in 2025

Thats what I wanted to read. Thank you. I had an AC88U for years, it was a performance beast mopping the floor with the UAP AC LR ( in 2x2 Scenarios). However yes it never really worked well with Yamha MusicCast and some updates broke everything. Love the apps from Ubiquiti, but my last try with...

Mesh Asus vs Unifi in 2025

Lets put the perfomance aspect aside for a moment. I did check the other thread prior to writing, what I found was the following: You @Tech9 stated that Unifi runs more stable at the downsid eof inconvinience for missing comfort features for home users like no WPS. I saw that OzarkEdge added...

Mesh Asus vs Unifi in 2025

Hi there, as we will move, and cant have cables in the new apartment I am forced to use mesh. Wondering whats the stastus of Mesh in 2025 for Asus also compared to Ubiquiti APs. These are slow as hell, but with mesh relaibility becomes more important and thats from what I remember not the strong...

Solved DUAL WAN - with regular R45

Hi there, I dont know how to put this: Many Asus router have a USB port supporting 4G/5G tethering, somehow being declared as dual WAN (for failover). The Question I have has anybody succeeded in "abusing" this for a regular second WAN via a NIC? First thing which would come to my mind, would be...

News FragAttacks - implications in reality?

Hi there, with my limited understanding, it looks like a spectre / meltdown like security issue has hit wifi in general https://www.fragattacks.com/ It is not very soothing that it can be onyl exploited within physical reach, since this in my opinion lies wihtin the nature of wifi...

Asus AP mode "light" possible? (use behind Sophos Firewall)

Emphasis on "if" ;-) I know that buying a Sophos AP would solve the problem, but I am in doubt, it has the same coverage like the 88u - I need this for my various musiccast speakers. I am using xg 18. I am really fed up now with the sophos ...

Asus AP mode "light" possible? (use behind Sophos Firewall)

I have it virtualized on Hyper V - I managed to get it working, however the DHCP on the Sophos is a complete mess. Once I created a bridge between physical and virtual NICS to serve them all together, the Asus Router didn't want to connect any longer via DHCP, nor static IP. So yes in theory its...

Asus AP mode "light" possible? (use behind Sophos Firewall)

So I disabled NAT, enabled the route in the test router (not yet Sophos) , and so far it works. Guest network separated. Clients from LAN1 can access LAN2 (Asus) - you do have to forward the ports though. Thanks a lot :-) Last question: Do you know by chance, how to unify DHCP for both networks...
