    Solved High nvram usage

Very interesting and informative, thank you! How recent is the ASUS firmware version? That's quite a significant NVRAM utilization difference between the OEM firmware and Merlin's.

    [Dev] Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 development

I'm amazed the work required to support and create firmware for Asus routers. It's just one person which makes it even more incredible, thanks for all your time and effort!

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

    Very smooth upgrade from 386.7 to 386.7_2 on a AC1900P, aka AC68U.

Request for ASUS Merlin firmware update for RT-AX55 router

I'll second your post, the RT-AC68U is ubiquitous and a rock solid router after all these years. In hindsight ASUS must realize they failed with planned obsolescence on this model.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

I upgraded a AC1900 aka AC68U from 386.4 to 386.5 and it was for the most part uneventful as usual. One thing that was unusual was at the end of the upgrade process it noted the need to manually reboot the router. Just as I was about to walk over to the router to do so, it magically rebooted by...

    Router temperatures

I posted further up thread my personal experiences testing the cooling results of using one vs two fans. I have an AC1900P router and found one fan is sufficient and very effective if mounted on the the right side vents. One 40 mm USB fan dropped the CPU temperature 27C and the radios 11C. I did...

    Router temperatures

Alright, I posted a couple months back about trying a 40mmx40mm USB fan that I purchased for $1.50 on eBay. It was attached it to the back on the the left side above the vent slots with two-sided tape. It dropped the radio temperatures by 8C and the CPU by 12C. Being an inexpensive and simple...

    What is your CPU Temperature?

The OP can be forgiven for being a newbie. Constructive posts that direct the OP to an existing thread are helpful, as is suggesting utilizing the search option. If the topic is of no interest to a forum member, then it's easy enough to ignore the thread and it will die a slow death.

    Router temperatures

Looking at the temperature changes based on fan speeds, I've concluded in simple terms, any air movement has positive effect and fan size is the only significant differentiator. In my case, I'm only using one 40 mm 5v USB fan to bring the temperature down a bit on hot ambient days.

    Router temperatures

Just for the hell of it, I purchased one single 40mm x 40mm (approx 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches) USB fan and stuck it to the back of the router using some 2-sided tape on the 4 corners of the fan. Total cost, USD $1.50 off eBay. I was surprised how much of a difference one single small fan makes, not...

    downgraded to 384.19

I'm curious, do the Asus firmware 386 versions also cause the routers to run hotter? I suspect it's likely no different than the Merlin 386 versions.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Dirty uneventful upgrade from 384.19 on a RT-AC1900P. Thank you Merlin and those that were beta testers and provided feedback.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

I'm new to this forum and have lurked for sometime to try and learn more about Merlin firmware. I've had an ASUS RT-AC1900P for a couple of years running previous versions of Merlin successfully. One of the most useful things I learned was that by doing a hard reset it can be quite helpful, in...
