    Yes. there is a restore image on there ftp servers, use that with there USB image.

    I have a Thecus didn't like there code much so I loaded openfiler over the DOM and very happy with it now, openfiler has LDAP support. I also have a ts-639 Qnap love the unit support is bellow avg but no ldap support unless you get an add-on check out http://forum.qnap.com. Dave

    It will not load on the Thecus due to booting off USB cdrom, you get to stage 2 of the grub loader then it hangs.

    Yes you can boot off a usb stick and run linux as a NAS With the 4100pro if you add a VGA header you can change the boot order to usb 1st or just backup the DOM and load linux on it then if you wish to back out then you have a dd of the DOM. FYI this may help...

    Hanging at grub is weird. Try booting in verbose mode and see. Please search back this post for guidance how to boot in various modes. press e at splash and change unix to unix -m verbose or unix -v Stage one you don't get the splash screen that is stage two but thanks.

    The product I have one at home and have removed the memory stick and only see one slot in the memory connector.

    You can't see it in the photo, but there are two stacked SODIMM sockets, with the top After looking 2 times I only see one slot in the memory bank not 2. Dave
