AImesh anyway to block client from node?

Ive actually just come up with a way to accomplish what I'm looking to do while keeping the mesh working. It's dirty but I think it would work. I got a RT-AX88U pro which has vlan support⁹. The guest network pro allows me to create SSIDs and only put them in certain nodes. Any client...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

I could agree with that. A simple solution would be to create a guest network or vlan for her to accomplish that security need....but really would do nothing to solve my kids issue since the XT8 would then be serving our both SSIDs. The distance is the issue. The wires APs were fine before...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

If it was a random tenant I'd agree with you. But since it's my mother in law who's constantly in my house....and my wife is constantly in her adu...I prefer it to be the same network. I have to manage it all. I have to manage all her devices. Plus as I stated before the node does also help...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

For example the entire AImesh tab. I don't want to have to go different places to manage things. I don't want to have to log into another device. Right now I have the AImesh tab which cleanly shows me each client. What node they are connected to. I can relatively easily switch devices...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

Well then you wasted alot of your time cause like I already said and I've explained why (even though you choose to not accept or understand my reasoning) I'm not moving one to repeater mode. Not going to happen. I'm losing to much by doing that. Not with my time or effort for one device. In...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

I thought about that, but then devices won't intelligently roam over when my mother in law is in my house or my wife is in the ADU. Plus there's dead spots in my yard and other devices like cameras that the ADU XT8 also serves to eliminate. So I really don't want to seperate things out two two...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

Thanks for this! Though it's going to take me some time to work out ha.

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

The issue isn't a wireless backhaul issue. It's a range issue to the XT8 from the bedroom. Performance from the XT8 works fine when your closer in the actual ADU. The XT8 is Triband.

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

It's too much effort for what it's worth. You claim it's easy. It's not in my environment where I have 4 other people who require stable internet for most daily activities. I have a system that generally works outside of this one outlier in a specific corner of the house. It's not worth...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

No man. I got a household of 5 where everything runs over the internet. Video games. Television. Cameras. Alarms. 60+ devices. I don't just reconfigure like that on a whim and just "see what happens"

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

But then I lose the AImesh features like the automanagement of clients and where they are. The GUI AImesh client monitoring and management. Sure in this one specific case it's giving me problems due to the location of their bedrooms and the adu, and the fact that I don't want these portable...

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

Nah I'm not really interested in doing that. The benefits of aimesh out way the negatives. This is a very minor issue, not one that's really worth changing the whole setup to try and maybe solve, opening the door to other issues.

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

I don't believe I do unless I don't know how. The only transmit power I see is a general one that I believe effects all 3 nodes.

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

Not really understanding how that would help this.

AImesh anyway to block client from node?

So, I have an AImesh setup with an RT-AX88U Pro as my primary node and then connected via the 2.5Gb backhaul is a RT-AX86U aimesh node to cover my house. Recently we converted my garage into an ADU for my mother in law to live. She was noticing wifi drops and issues, so I added a XT8 as a...
