WiFi 300 feet in my neighborhood, line of sight

Not an issue. They're family and I own both properties. From my perspective, it's no different from kids' bedrooms upstairs.

WiFi 300 feet in my neighborhood, line of sight

I have a question similar to this one: 300 feet in my neighborhood, near line of sight | SNBForums My property situation is the same, including the distance. The answers in that thread are two years old and I want to check for current advice, as well as add a few specific details of my...

Disassociated because sending station is leaving (or has left)

Our Android phones will not connect to the Asus AP. I know there are a lot of threads on this topic. I understand the issue is Asus-specific, but not limited to a specific firmware. (Is that correct?) It seems like I have tried almost everything, short of reflashing. I want to try to better...

DNS leaks on VPN: best DNS servers, using dnsmasq and openvpn?

You replied to my question #4. I'm happy with openvpn for now. I also want to continue using dnsmasq. Not looking to change my entire setup, especially when it is working well. As mentioned, I use netctl. My DHCP is handled by dhcpcd That means I don't have either of those locations. I know...

DNS leaks on VPN: best DNS servers, using dnsmasq and openvpn?

I'm using ExpressVPN on Linux. The Linux box is my router. I have a few related questions: 1. Is it more private to use ExpressVPN's DNS servers or to use well-known privacy-friendly servers? 2. Is this page still reliable? Alternative DNS - WikiLeaks 3. Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) gets good reviews...

Since upgrading to firmware 386.3_2, my Internet will not stay connected for even a day.

Good to know, but I did not have guest networking enabled. I have AT&T fiber. Not sure if that is the same as FIOS.

Many reports of firmware 3.0.0.4.386.48377 bricking RT-AX86U. OK to upgrade to latest Merlin fw?

FYI - the fw upgrade to 386.5_2 completed without issues.

Thanks. I will stick with Merlin. Not sure how you can say that. If it was one or two, maybe. But a lot of different people are having the same problem starting with the firmware that was just released 4/11.

Many reports of firmware 3.0.0.4.386.48377 bricking RT-AX86U. OK to upgrade to latest Merlin fw?

The thread with reports of stock firmware 3.0.0.4.386.48377 bricking RT-AX86U is here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ax86u-bricked-after-update-version-3-0-0-4-386-48377.78437/ I upgraded my RT-AX86U to Merlin 386.5 a few weeks ago and it has not been a great experience. I don't know...

RT-AX86U bricked after update Version 3.0.0.4.386.48377

FYI - my AX86U is working again. But I'm running Merlin fw. I had to hard reset quite a few times to get it into setup mode again, but now it is OK again.

AX86U and Merlin fw 386.5 - basic questions

    > If you have successfully performed a hard factory reset all your previous changes will be gone. The router will not be in AP mode, it will be in setup mode. Thanks. I got it going again. I've never had a router require so many hard resets. > Remove all USB devices Never had any attached. >...

RT-AX86U bricked after update Version 3.0.0.4.386.48377

My AX86U may also be bricked. Here's my thread: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ax86u-and-merlin-fw-386-5-basic-questions.78439/ > AX86U still worked as a ethernet AP so that not got bricked. Mine was the same for the last few weeks after I updated the firmware. But today I attempted to fix...

AX86U and Merlin fw 386.5 - basic questions

A few weeks ago I upgraded my AX86U to Merlin fw 386.5 and switched it to AP mode. I have no custom scripts and my settings are super simple for AP mode. In the weeks since that change, the AP has been functional for wireless clients, but I have not been able to ssh into my AX86U nor access the...

Since upgrading to firmware 386.3_2, my Internet will not stay connected for even a day.

Update. The AC86U with 386.5 fw appears to still have the issue that started this thread. Weirdly, the AX86U with 386.5 fw has a GUI problem. I cannot access the GUI (even after a reboot), although the device continues to function in AP mode.
