    ASUS RT-AC68U not working after Merlin firmware update, did I brick it?

    ASUS RT-AC68U routers are kind of old at this point. I would consider upgrading since it sounds like a hardware issue. I would guess you tried all the usual troubleshooting things (reboot, reset, etc.). Have you switched ports your computer is plugged into on the router. Try different cables...

    I have found in the past setting up AiMesh using Wifi doesn't always work. I have foundconnecting directly with ethernet always works. Then you can always switch to Wifi. I have also ran the node with both stock and merlin firmware. Contrary to what others have said, I find no difference running...

    Well, if your ISP is anything like mine, you need to call back and get a different rep. Some times it will take me 3 or 4 different tries. If you are having issues without your router being in the mix, it's their problem I would think.

    thinking of installing a pfSense box

    I currently am running an ASUS Mesh system with ethernet backhaul. I was thinking of adding a pfSense box to do the router/firewall duties for my home network. If I go and change my current main router to AP mode will I have to set up the mesh network all over again?
