Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

Yes, I restarted dnsmasq (not the router), also the Pi, but it had no effect.

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

I did, but unfortunately it didn't change anything (But maybe I made mistakes).

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

Works... but then generates DNS leaks Because you persistently refuse to dedicate yourself to this great project, I just have to temporarily switch to a Pi. You would certainly have a lot to contribute. 😊

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

@bennor Thank you! But I had already entered it exactly like that. true,192.168.1.0/24,192.168.1.1,lan Unfortunately, it doesn't change anything with "top clients"

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

Yes, DNS Director, (Global Redirection, User defined DNS 1). Or do I have to use the Pihole IP on LAN/ DNS and WINS Server Setting DNS Server 1 instead?

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

This setting was clear to me, Pihole & unbound also work great. Unfortunately, the trick doesn't work, maybe it's because of Merlin. Very unfortunate, because when Pihole runs on the router all top clients are displayed. Something is always... 😩😁

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

@jacklul Something off-topic: As a test I installed Pihole & unbound on a Raspberry Pi (of course the interfaces part works here). However, that is not what I am about with this question. When this setup is installed on the router, all "top clients" are listed in the Pihole UI. Unfortunately...

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

And precisely because it is still experimental and fragile, this project would have especially deserved to be supported by intelligent programmers and developers. No one will be able to deny Pihole's worldwide success and popularity. From this point of view, you are right, Diversion is A+, but...

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

Yes! With Chrome & Firefox on Windows and Safari MacOS. Everywhere the same result, empty... @jacklul Thank you for your perseverance to help me! This is not self-evident. 🙂🙂🙂 Maybe there are problems with the alias br0:pihole and Entware? Why did @bibikalka have to change that for AsusWRT Merlin?

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

Then all that remains is to find out what can be "in between" and how can you find out?

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

On a Qnap NAS + Docker, IPv6 does not work at all or only extremely cumbersome. The interfaces UI on Pihole is meant (tools > interfaces), which does not work for me when Pihole runs on the router.

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

@jacklul I installed pihole (with unbound) as a docker on a Qnap NAS to test, the interfaces side works of course flawlessly (unfortunately Qnap + docker can not IPv6). So it can't be the browser.

@SomeWhereOverTheRainBow could you provide further support here? It would be fantastic. @Viktor Jaep 🙂

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

No, I'd rather not. Actually, I'm only concerned with the interfaces page, not because it would be absolutely necessary (Pihole works perfectly) but because it's obviously a mistake. @bibikalka apparently uses an older pihole version from August 2025 (if I interpret it correctly) on another...

Entware Pi-hole directly on the router? Yes!

But why WAN br101 and not br0 or alias br0:pihole? Wouldn't a real VLAN subinterface (not only alias) be better for persistent isolation (e.g. VLAN 4095 = “Pi-hole only”)?
