How do you specify different IPv6 subnets?

I've got an IPv6 /56 designated prefix. Within merlin, is it possible to define different /64 subnets?

    Does ddns-start get passed IPv6?

Thanks. I've got a custom script (originally because I needed to update 2 ddns services, but that's borked now by a move to a CGNAT ISP :(). However I do have designated IPv6 prefix. So I'm embracing the future and adopting an IPv6-first mindset. I can pull the IPv6 from within the ddns-start...

    Does ddns-start get passed IPv6?

I believe the built-in ddns scripts can now update IPv6. On an IP change event, does the custom ddns-start script get passed a IPv6 value (similar to how ${1} is the IPv4 address) or have access to an environment variable with the IPv6 address?

    Please harmonise killswitch behaviour

It seems to me that the kill switch behaviour in the 386.14_2 version is still of the type described in the changelog: - Manually stopping a client will remove the kill switch. It will now only be applied at boot time (if client was set to start at boot)...

KILLMON KILLMON v1.1.2 -Feb 29, 2024- IP4/IP6 VPN Kill Switch Monitor & Configurator (Now available in AMTM!)

Hey, I'm a bit confused - most likely because there might be two different modes of killswitch operation in the two streams of firmware. I've got an RT-AC68U, so am stuck on 386.14_2. It seems to me that the kill switch functionality in that version is still of the type described in the...

IP camera network design - VLAN, NICs, etc

Thanks for the reply - I likely will take you up on your zoneminder offer at some point. I've just had another realisation: Two of my cameras are on the outside and are wired. So my ethernet cable is technically accessible. Maybe that alone makes VLAN the right way to go? (Not that I can really...

IP camera network design - VLAN, NICs, etc

I'm just starting to think about how to configure my network ip cameras and would welcome suggestions. My current constellation: Gateway/Router: Asus RT AC68U running Merlin Main switch: Netgear ProSafe GS748T V5 Server: X11SM-F with two onboard NICs. Proxmox hypervisor. I have a Netgear Smart...

Please help me diagnose knotty routing problem

Oh! You've unearthed yet more behaviour. When I configure the app to point to abshost:13378, it successfully connects to the server. But the Cast button has disappeared completely! Correction: I realised that the chromecast button had disappeared for all server configurations within the app. So...

Please help me diagnose knotty routing problem

Summary: I see different behaviour when I use the ip address of an internal machine compared to when I use it's hostname concatenated with the RT-AC68U's Domain Name. Please help me diagnose what's going on. Symptoms: I have an audiobookshelf instance on a host called abshost in my home network...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Thread Closed!)

I have just gone round the houses with the network settings for the SMB CIFS share on my RT-AC68U and so am sharing my findings for the people from the future. TLDR: the RT-AC68U CIFS client only supports SMB v1. So if you can't or don't want to run SMB v1 on your samba server for security...

Can I handle reverse proxy queries in the LAN?

I've got a reverse proxy manager set up to pass incoming connections to the relevant server in my home network. So for example I can connect to my nextcloud server via the address nextcloud.example.com. Can I configure something so that queries emanating from within my home network don't need to...

Seeking network design to add IP Cameras alongside home network

Thank you @bbunge. Welcome news indeed - and even easier to set up than anticipated. It's a minor hassle to manually switch the IP address on a PC whenever I want to configure the cameras, but I suspect that'll be once in a blue moon once I've got everything set up. A few follow up questions...

Seeking network design to add IP Cameras alongside home network

How should I configure my existing hardware/software to achieve good (or at least, not terrible) security when I add some IP cameras. Current set up: * Asus RT-AC68U router running merlin: Providing the gateway to WAN and IP assignment. Only one LAN port is used, and that's connected to the...

Dynamic DNS, Hostnames and reverse proxy muddle

Hi all, Hoping you can help clarify a mental muddle. I want to use my free freenom domain to point to a number of servers behind my Asus router running Merlin. Ive got a freenom domain name let's call it 'myfreenomdomain.tk' and I'd love to be able to create various subdomains like...

Can I refer to services on ports using a friendly name?

Thanks for the pointers - it's certainly helping get me up to speed. I'd still be very grateful for an example though.
