    I had a similar issue when trying connect my RT-N66U to a Vigor 120 using PPPoE pass through, I managed to figure out that the stock & Merlins firmware needed to see both a username and password for the modem connection to complete - the password isn't something which is required for UK BT ISP...

    Problem Solved OK, problem solved. I noticed that /var/log/messages on the router was linked to the custom directory I specified in the GUI, adding the log file name in the GUI allows a new logfile to be created. Currently it was trying to write the messages to a directory instead of a file.

    I've tried with and without the trailing '/' both have the same result. Forgot to say earlier I had the same issue with the 095 firmware as well, hence upgrading. Thanks

    Yes, I have a RT-N66U behind the DrayTek 120 using Tomato custom FW (Shibby 0.95 build) as opposed to the stock FW.

    I opted for the Draytek Vigor 120, it's slightly more expense but in my opinion worth every penny :D
