AX86U syslog ceases if its AX56U mesh node is offline

RT-AX86U main router, and RT-AX56U wifi-connected mesh router associated with it. Both with latest asus firmware. I have syslog configured on the RT-AX86U, port 515, and the logs are able to be captured successfully on the syslog server. . If the mesh node is powered down, all syslogging ceases...
