    N66U + Huawei 658 v2 martian packets / dnsmasq[3803]: possible DNS-rebind attack detected: dns.msftncsi.com

Added the entry, no more dns-rebind attack. As for the martian packets: I removed netplan from the linux box and I'm using NetworkManager instead. Edited the interface metric via nmcli. No more martian packets in syslog.

Martian Packets 386.3_2 AC68U for DMZ / port forwarding

It's not the same problem, I've actually further refined it to the N66U and John's fork. This thread should be considered closed by all means. Thank you for your replies.

    N66U + Huawei 658 v2 martian packets / dnsmasq[3803]: possible DNS-rebind attack detected: dns.msftncsi.com

I might have used the wrong nomenclature, but this setup is similar to what I've typically used in the past where I would connect via PPPoE from my ASUS router and that router would get a public IP for it's WAN interface and then preform NAT for it's clients. What's wrong with this setup?

Martian Packets 386.3_2 AC68U for DMZ / port forwarding

Yes, I've tried to configure it so that while both connections are active, the traffic favors the ADSL. Would that generate this "martian packets" problem, is it simply enough to drop the metric settings? Anyway, I've started a separate, more detailed thread here...

    N66U + Huawei 658 v2 martian packets / dnsmasq[3803]: possible DNS-rebind attack detected: dns.msftncsi.com

Hello, I have a N66U set up as AP router with public IP behind a Huawei 658 v2 ADSL router set up in bridge mode. A linux box connected to the N66U keeps logging martian packets for the interface attached to that lan: kernel: IPv4: martian source 192.168.100.51 from 192.168.100.51, on dev...

Martian Packets 386.3_2 AC68U for DMZ / port forwarding

After using exclusively the N66U, it seems the problem is only on that device. What should I do to work it out, what could be causing it? Could the router be faulty in terms of hardware?

Martian Packets 386.3_2 AC68U for DMZ / port forwarding

It does happen on eno1 as well, but I've disabled eno2 just to try this. I'll report back. N66U is running John's fork btw, connected to an ADSL Huawei router running in bridge mode. The famouse mediarouter.home certificate router from Huawei :).

Martian Packets 386.3_2 AC68U for DMZ / port forwarding

It happens no matter if I have port forwarding / dmz enabled. Seems to be occurring less when they are disabled. I'm not in Chile, actually in Europe. It's not always the same IP. Second NIC is connected to an N66U with it's own ISP. That router exhibits the same problem, which is strange...

Martian Packets 386.3_2 AC68U for DMZ / port forwarding

Running on latest firmware and a linux box on lan is constantly complaining about martian packets. They start appear when the specific host is placed in the DMZ or I forward ports to it. The box has two NICs, each on its own lan. If i disable port fowarding / DMZ, the problem goes away. Any...

RT N66U - unable to upload John's Merlin Fork

All done, I've upgraded the firmware via the asus tool, then did a factory reset, formatted jffs, factory reset again. Now running: 374.43_52E3j9527 Follow up questions: - I couldn't reset nvram before upgrading, I guess that's no longer a problem since I did a factory reset? - Do I need to...

RT N66U - unable to upload John's Merlin Fork

Thanks, will come back. Just to verify once more: I'm on latest asus firmware, there should be no problem upgrading to the latest merlin fork from John. I plan to put in rescue, connect via web server, clean nvram, upload firmware, wait for complete, reboot.

Ok, how can it be accessed then? I assume it gets you some kind of prompt and then you upload the firmware?

RT N66U - unable to upload John's Merlin Fork

Hello, What is this Mini-CFE Web server and how can I a access it? Is it an alternative to putting the router in firmware restoration mode or ar they related? I'm running N66U on the latest official firmware from Asus and I want to switch to merlin. Is there any step by step guide showing how...
