    No updates for AC88U firmware

Incredibly, after three years with no updates, the router today announced that it had an update available and updated to v1.10.08 build593!

Unstable wifi on one access point

Thanks. The 5Ghz bands are all set to Auto. Using an analyser on my phone I can see two of them on the same channel, 106, with the other on 58. I don't know what Smart Connect band steering is, or how to check for it. But I am fairly convinced this is not a problem with switching between APs -...

Unstable wifi on one access point

The AP's are about 40 feet apart through several walls, and all on different 2.4Ghz bands well spread on channels 3, 8 and 13. The problem is not signal strength as it occurs when sat right next to the router, and most likely when connected using 5GHz. It is probably not interference as changing...

Unstable wifi on one access point

I have three Asus access points of different types around the house, all with the same SSID on both 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. The main router/AP is a DSL-AC88U. Running a speed test website when connected wirelessly to this AP wirelessly shows a speed of about 45Mbs, but it's noticeable that when...

    Roaming Assistant causes connectivity problems

The lowest I can see on any of the three devices at present is -76DB, but presumably that changes as phones roam around the house.

    Roaming Assistant causes connectivity problems

That sounds a very plausible explanation, thanks. I think I'm content just to leave Roaming Assistant off - presumably it means the phones may not always be on the fastest connection, but at least they are connected.

    Roaming Assistant causes connectivity problems

The APs are about 50ft away from the router and each other, through several walls. I haven't tried adjusting the threshold, but it sounds as if the problem is disconnecting too often, rather than not often enough.

    Roaming Assistant causes connectivity problems

Roaming Assistant seems to have been the source of the connectivity problems that have been plaguing me for years. I have had persistent problems with phones (OnePlus phones) and printers not able to get a valid IP address. Phones would show "Connected No Internet". Rebooting the device would...

    No updates for AC88U firmware

Thanks. As you say, it explains the difference; but I'm at a loss what to do, as I'm really concerned at the security implications of no updates. I may just have to junk it and buy from a different manufacturer.

    No updates for AC88U firmware

I'm here because I'm really worried that Asus has not issue any firmware updates for my router model DSL-AC88U (as sold in he UK) for nearly two years - it's on version v1.10.06 build591 issued on Dec 4 2018, which both the router and the website...
