Maybe try WPS reset first just to make sure (I explained before). I recommended putting your settings back manually and not using the CFG file if it's working ok.
Basically, I just installed the ac68u firmware and then reset nvram (hold wps button and turn on, hold until power light flashes). You lose all your settings but you get back your 2.4ghz so worth it. I really thought my chip was bad but it's working great now.
So I was able to fix this problem and included a long post how to and it's been removed so, FYI, those having 2.4ghz problems. It's not a bad chip. It's the firmware. Sorry I'm not allowed to give more info.
Ok, this is all good, except for one thing. It doesn't effect dns. When I do an nslookup for an ipaddress, it still shows whatever the device is set as. It would really be nice to add manual dns entries in any form!
I'm a few years later... Still looking for this same issue. Isn't there someone that knows how to do this? Honestly, I'm REALLY surprised, disappointed in ASUS having a firmware that does tons of things yet not something as simple (which you can find on a $20 router) as adding manual dns entries!?!?
I want to point out that I'm pretty confident that the root of the problem is the wifi drivers. It seems every firmware (I tried them all Openwrt, dd-wrt, merlin) struggles with getting good 2.4ghz support because of the broadcom wifi chip. (Another lesson learned, don't buy routers with...
Ok, for the moment, let's ignore what I said about my modem and go to the root question. How do I translate "v28L2" to a release or branch number. I wasn't aware of the policy seeing this thread never mentioned it and I got here through google and not by going to the main page. Thanks for your...
I know this is an old post but I have the same issue with 2.4ghz. I'm not sure how to translate "v28L2" to an old branch number. Any pointers greatly appreciated. I have a TM-ac1900 converted to rt-ac68u that was working fine for about a month and then I upgraded to latest version of merlin and...
Sorry to jump into this but I'm having problems with my TM-AC1900 2.4ghz and I saw a post that someone mention v28L2 from "john's fork" fixed their problem. Not sure where those numbers are in terms of versions so if anyone can help me to get to the right branch to try this out. Thanks!
