Firmware not updating when accessing web interface via custom hostname

On my RT-AX86U I've set LAN -> LAN IP -> Host Name to "gate". When accessing the web interface via http://gate and updating the firmware via Administration -> Firmware Upgrade -> Upload, the following happens: the "Applying settings..." popup appears, the router reboots, and the firmware is...
