I have not used that specific model but fwiw, I have been using their older GL-MT1300 since 2021 and have had no issues with it. I won't hesitate to buy one of their newer devices when the time comes.
It's a long shot, but you might ask for an ISP tech to physically inspect the routing of the coax to your building to ensure it was grounded appropriately when installed. Sadly, it is quite common for these to be run by contractors who don't know or care about doing it correctly. If something...
Ideally you should use STP connectors with STP cables to ensure the shield doesn't act like a giant EMI antennae. STP connectors with UTP cable is not usually an issue.
I am currently doing this on a GT-BE98 Pro.
-Stability (router)? No issues. Throughput varies but typically I see >900Mbps up/down
-Stability (vpn)? No issues except having to periodically regenerate a connection profile when PIA clean out WG sessions (guessing server reboots / maintenance)...
About 50ft through Drywall in an adjacent room, with Tx power adjustment set to "Performance" I can max out a 2Gbps symmetrical connection at 2300 Mpbs up/down. Beyond that it starts to drop off rapidly.
Thanks for checking. The issue persists after reboots so if there is any data I can gather to help solve the mystery please let me know what you need. I should have time to try a factory reset this weekend if needed. As of now I have 4 connected clients to 5GHz and only one showing. I have not...
I did leave it open for quite a while I was troubleshooting, connecting and disconnecting clients to the 5Ghz SSID.

GT-BE98 Pro updated from 3006_102.2_2
Wireless Log is not showing clients connected to the 5 GHz band. They are being correctly reported for the 2.4 GHz, 6 GHz-1 and 6 GHz-2 bands
Low level details shows the 3 connected clients I would expect to see.
From a technology perspective, most hardware is already outdated by the time it hits the market. Any 'enthusiast' who cares about having the latest and greatest networking tech will be replacing hardware long before 5 years. By the time any new tech becomes mainstream, routers with those specs...
Windows 10/11 has native support for encrypted DNS (DNS over HTTPS).
There are many free filtering DNS services out there which do not require an account (Adguard, Cleanbrowsing, Quad9....)
