Regarding Win10 PPTP. I think the Asus DSL-N55U router can only use PPTP so was thinking of using an alternative PPTP client for windows 10. What would people recommend?
Hi, I'me at my wits end. Offered to set up a VPN for a charity so they can work from home and it is turning into a real nightmare. all I am trying to do is allow 3 laptops occasional remote access to a NAS and allow me to 'dial in' to do some basic support. I'me fairly technical (build PCs...
The one that came from ISP is a Technicolour TG582nand I also have a TP link 8819 (alough the reset does not work so I need to be a bit careful. Trying to work out if the Merlin FW gives me mutch of an advantage (its not my router, its a small charity I work for and don't want to risk buggering...
Interesting. The first article mentions 'use 1:1 static nat + DMZ' but does not say how to implement this. This sounds interesting. But to be honest most of the article is way above my head.
I am actually thinking if I run the DDNS on the ADSL modem not the ASUS router the problems may go...
I have tried punting a ADSL router (the original one I got before I tried to 8817) in the DMZ but still got the double NAT error as I wanted to use the DDNS on the AC57U. Maybe I need to turn off DHCP server and use static IP on modem?
Thanks, I am actually know how to access the router in bridged mode, either using a static IP and connecting the router directly to the PC or through USB. I am fairly technical, have worked in IT for a while.
Not got access to the site for a bit (it is a small charity I am doing this for) and...
The Modem supports PPPoA, the AC56U with original firmware only allows you to use PPPoE. I am of confused you. I am attempting to use the modem in bridged mode and use the AC56U to do the PPPoA (I was hoping the Merlin software supported PPPoA.
Buying a new modem is not an option. The ASUS...
Sorry, I meant can't use bridge mode because the AC56U does not support PPPoA. This is why I was wondering if Asuswrt-Merlin has PPPoE (and allows VPI/VCI to be set).
I am using DDNS and VPN so this is why I need to sort out the double NAT problem.
There is a much fuller description of what I...
Hi, trying to connect the AC56U to a TP LINK 8817 and need to use Bridge Mode to avoid the dual NAT problem. The problem is the AC56U with suplied firmware does not support PPPoA and also does not seem to to be anywhere to put in the VPI/VCI. I guess the PPPoA issue is because it is not as...
And if so how is it configured. I have a ADSL modem I can use in Bridged mode and was wondering if Merlin is the solution.
I am in the UK so we use PPPoA (which is why using the ADSL modem is Bridged mode does not help.
Edit: Just to clarify I am trying to use the AC56U as a VPN server (with...
Hi, I am using a AC56U connected to a TP LINK 8817 in Bridge mode (so I can use DDNS/VPN). The issue is the AC56U does not seem to support PPPoA (witch makes is useless in the UK with a bridged modem). It also does not seem to enable me to input VPI/VCI, which potentially makes it doubly...
