Thanks, that article says volumes. The main point being that it's ultimately the client that does the switching, coaxed perhaps by the router. I'm currently re-evaluating my router needs. I bought 2 86U's for the mesh capability, but really I can get all the roaming capability I need out of one...

I would imagine that through the backhaul AIMesh manages all mesh nodes as if they were one router, thus can manage everything being on the same channel efficiently. If I were to set up all nodes as APs, however, I would imagine that speed loss/latency issues would arise.

I'm afraid that I must respectfully disagree. My experience is that roaming works better when it's initiated by the client, not when the client is forcefully disconnected by the router. Using RA appears to simply deauthenticate the client and it's left scrambling to reconnect to the strongest...

I concur that my device is likely doing the switching, but when one signal is at -68db and the mesh node is at -35 db, it's highly unlikely that my device is going to switch back to the weaker signal. Something is triggering the mesh node to kick my device off after my phone connects to it.
