    More VPN server questions

A couple of additional notes, and I'll repeat some of the above for succinctness. 1. When I try to connect to the VPN from outside my home network, I get a simple "Authentication Failed" notice. 2. When I try to connect to the ER605 router through DDNS address I defined via no-ip and put in...

    More VPN server questions

i've watched a few videos on how to set up a VPN server on an ER605, but they are pretty useless; they just walk you through the steps and tell you, for example, "enter your VPN pool IP addresses here" without telling you what that means. (I do now know what that means, just an example). For...

    More VPN server questions

Ok, I'm revisiting this and reviving this thread. I never did successfully connect to the router over the internet, either though a VPN client or my typing in the DDNS address or router IP address directly into a browser. I'm able to connect to the router through the public IP address, as...

    More VPN server questions

When i punch in my router's public IP into a browser window, the local network tells me this: The proxy could not connect to the destination in time. URL: http://47.154.247.92/

    More VPN server questions

ok, maybe making some progress on this. I set up a VPN connection in windows and received the following error when attempting to connect: This sounds like something I've set up wrong on the client side that won't allow it to connect with the server I've set up? These are the options I...

    More VPN server questions

Makes sense, thanks for the further explanation. I think I'm good on that front - looks like all the dynamic IPs on this network with the windows machine are 10.72.100.x, and a few statics at other ips, but none at the 192.168.x.x which I'll use on the home network. :)

    More VPN server questions

I appreciate the detailed explanation eibgrad! Very helpful. I may have to update the subnet mask based on what the network that the windows machine lives on; I'll check tomorrow. I know we use 192.168 there as well. Does the potential conflict occur because the local client network and the...

    More VPN server questions

Hi all, I'm (slowly) educating myself about how to set up a vpn server on my home network. I've asked a bunch of newb questions here and here. I now have a TP link ER605 wired router in my network, and have my wifi routers set up in bridge mode (which means they are access points, and don't...

Explain IP pools to me like i'm seven years old

ok, no prob - any one of these a better option? I'm trying to stick with something that's built into windows on the client side:

Explain IP pools to me like i'm seven years old

Hi all. I'm trying to set up a VPN server using PPTP protocol on my TPLink ER605 router to access things on my local network remotely, a mac mini in particular. I need to choose an allowable set of IP addresses that the VPN clients can use. What do I choose for these? Anything I want? Are...

Setting up VPN server (router?) for offsite access

Thanks Peter. I'll wade through those and see if I can get it set up. The video seems particualrly helpful.

Setting up VPN server (router?) for offsite access

The article is helpful, but it doesn't address a couple of questions that come up when setting up the VPN server in QVPN app on the NAS OS. I'm trying to set up a wireguard VPN server, and there are a few things I don't know. (wireguard is the protocol of how it works I assume?) 1...

Setting up VPN server (router?) for offsite access

Yeah, I'd be happy to set up on the mini, I just didn't realize that was a possibility. It's always on, yes. Any guides out there on how to do this? Gotcha on the diff, thx for clearing that up.
