CVE 2023-50868 and CVE 2023-50387 in dnsmasq when DNSSEC is enabled

I see. I patch when patches are available, so just wondering what the real world user impact was. Thanks

CVE 2023-50868 and CVE 2023-50387 in dnsmasq when DNSSEC is enabled

Here's what I'd like to know. Reading some of the announcements of this issue, it sounds like it is an incoming DNSSEC request that is the trigger. Nothing I run is open to the outside (limited to responding to my LAN only). Where is the threat to my install? I'm sure I'll patch this, just with...

    Cloud storage

For a NAS, you're better off biting the bullet and running a NAS. I had a 2 drive Synology and it worked well. Not the cheapest box, but well thought out and great software. I needed a bit more space, had a machine available, so installed TrueNAS on it and it is worth the effort of rebuilding...

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

Last of the great procrastinators... I'm dinking with a debian router. Have to wrap my head around dual stack firewalling and getting traffic through for three servers.

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

Hmmm, first you know nothing about anything I own. Secondly, made in China means I'm getting things built by people who know how to do it. Not a whole lots of tech is built outside China. If you don't manufacture things, you don't know how to design them well. Well, there's the whole being...

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

Indeed, the choice is mine. Hmmm, I don't use YouTube enough to care about ads. Plus, my point is not wether I need to pay or not. It is the trustworthiness of who I choose to pay. For me, I'll not give a nickel for pfSense after this move. I'm a good consumer, I spend on odd things. I don't...

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

Naaah, I've seen it plenty. It's one of the reasons I'll not use this. Unless I had bought one of their slightly overpriced hardware units, then I'd be happy to stay with the TACLite version as I'd have some faith in them not taking it away.

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

Nothing. I just have a thing for companies that don't know what they are doing from day to day. I'm not the one who pushed 'Upgrade for free today". Plus, given this, how long for CE? Naaah, not beholden to any particular hardware/software. @dave14305 has a good idea for my simple needs I think.

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

That's how I'm leaning. I have fairly simple needs. A couple of holes poked through the firewall for things I run locally, DDNS, DHCP. Done

    Needless complication.

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

Well, as I said, *Sense is dead for me. One is not trustworthy, one is assholish for questions on things they don't think you need. I have found several candidates, but they all fail on a single item. No support for Cloudflare DDNS. I suppose I could run ddclient on a device and that's likely...

At $100 a year, you'll soon have one of their hardware boxes paid for. Those come with TACLite free. At least for now.

pfSense No More Without Paid Version?

They've come up with TAC LITE $129/per year Better but still a 'no' for me.
