    I unchecked the allow other networks box on both computers. im completely against using online accounts as well. funny enough, I had to set it up using this for my daughters minecraft account to let us reinstall the app. Thank You for all of the help!

    and...I pretty much got it to work. I can at least map my drives now. the trick was to put microsoftaccount\myemailaddress\ as the username. I am still unable to see anything whatsoever in the "network" of windows explorer

    I tried mapping using the ip address and got different results. It wants my credentials which to my knowledge I dont have unless it's my microsoft account info?

    I will try mapping using the IP address. I am trying to change the permissions now as I noticed "everyone" was not in the permissions. It gives me the message "an error occured while applying security information. Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied"

    I checked that the function discovery provider host and resource were running on both computers. They were both running but I changed them from manual to automatic anyways. Network discovery is also enabled on both computers

    yes they are both windows 10. one is home and one is pro. both are configured mas private and file and printer sharing is on. to my knowledge neither has wireless. it has worked in the past before I got the asus router and it was on an older uverse router that has been replaced

    I have my uverse gateway set up to IP pass through as per a guide on dslreports. It says it is the closest to bridge mode I can get it to run my asus router behind it and run a openvpn. I do not have a playstation or xbox.
